The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Really good post. Parity in the US major sports is at an all time high right now. Which is good. I still contend that players forcing their way our of contracts that they signed is bad though.
Thanks. I agree with all parts and my whole case started from trying to root out (or at least control) forcing trade requests, since they hurt parity and especially small markets.

If winning a ring requires you to have a top 5 player, that isnt parity IMO.
To me parity means that it isn't easy to predict which team wins the title. I have not been able to predict who will win the title very easy in the nba lately. I didn't see denver winning it this year. Last team that I could predict easily was the warriors. When the warriors were winning it all there wasn't parity imo because we all knew it was the warriors or lebron. (having said that, the warriors and lebron both won the chip in the last 5 years lol)

I agree that the tanking stuff sucks.

I had no trouble understanding what was said, just questionned your interpretation of the term "parity".

Funny that you posted your typical snarky reply but only to the first sentence of my post and ignored the main argument.

I'm sure no one will notice.
Im sorry bud, but when you start a post off by asking a question that I clearly explained in my post, I'm going to ask what that's about. You cant really have an effective conversation with someone if you dont understand each other. Why would I get to the rest of your post when you're apparently still stuck on what you're responding to?

This isn't always the case, AFC Richmond had a single owner, female owned even, with a sponsorship by an obscure dating app and they remained pretty competitive last year. I'm fairly certain they were not breaking the bank on their coaching staff either. . .
Wasn't their coach ted lasso?

I didnt ask anything, but merely questionned your use of the term. Maybe my phrasing wasnt the best but it is possible for an intelligent person to understand the point. Fish understood it perfectly.

And continuing to try and divert this to semantics is sort of cute but too obvious and I already called you out for it.

Parity is when there is no clear favorite and right now in the nba we have a level of parity that we haven't seen in a long time. There are probably 10 teams that are in the championship conversation with a few others that have the talent to jump into that conversation. In the east I have the Heat, Bucks and Celtics clearly in the conversation with the cavs and knicks right there. The sixers are probably in the conversation as well even with the Harden situation because Embiid and Maxey are still damn good duo. The west is even more loaded with a bunch of teams in the conversation. I guarantee no one on this board will agree with me but the wolves are my favorite team in the west this year. Their mix of stars and role players is the perfect blend while I think Ant is ready to take that next step to full blown superstar.

There are not 10 teams in the championship discussion.

FWIW, I think parity is simply defined as every team feeling like they can compete with every other team.

Short term parity (within a season), probably isn't that important, and I don't have strong feelings on if it is good or not.

Long term parity, where every team feels like they are able to compete at some point for a championship is what's actually important.

You questioned something that was clearly explained, then when I asked you why you questioned it you said you understood what I said, but now you're back to questioning it?

So you think all these teams can compete with Denver despite Denver mollywhopping their entire competition?

If Denver is healthy, they are clear favorites in the West. The only teams who can challenge them are a healthy Suns (super star heavy team, so much for parity!). The Bucks dominate the East if they are healthy, then it's the Celtics. IF it isnt one of those two teams, the Nuggets/Suns wreck whoever gets lucky out the East.

Everyone is mistaking a strong middle class for actual championship parity. If your ultimate goal is getting to the conference finals, there is some parity.

There is never going to be parity in the NBA when it comes to rings. Top 5 players win rings and no one else does unless they get extremely lucky.

I'm not sure how you inferred any of that from my post, maybe you were responding to the wrong one?

Or it's possible I was not very clear.
