FWIW I've been told the rumors regarding Utah and free agents/trades is to appease Ryan Smith, who does want to win.

That’s honestly been my sense, but it was at the time the Jazz acquired John Collins as well so I honestly don’t know.
I think that was a real Danny Ainge decision just trying to buy cheap on a guy who put up crazy stats early in his career.
Curious if Ryan was hyped up about that trade.
