The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Some of the talking heads say that when Grizzlies hired Iisalo and Noah LaRoche Jenkins was alteady on the clock and they wanted to assess and groom those two before mqking the change.

Apparently Wizards were also aggressively courting Iisalo so the FO may have given "a wink" about possible upcoming vacancies during the hiring process...
Hoops rumors had a story where the Front Office forced Jenkins to fire five assistant coaches after last season and Jenkins wasn't very happy about it and the unhappiness leaked out in the media. They also forced him to scrap last season's offense and institute a less pick and roll version. Ja was firmly in Jenkins camp so perhaps he gets moved. Also in their game vs the Jazz Desmond Bane and Santi Aldama got into a shoving match on the bench. Good times with team Griz.

Iisalo is known for his "3 to 3" (when you get the ball, the everybody on the team has to get (at least) to the opponents 3-point line, where fast PnR's and screens are initiated for easy buckets. Jenkins, on the advice of Laroche, did want the "3 to 3" but thought the screen plays are slowing down the offense. It worked well early in the season, but against better team it has been a fiasco the past couple months. Now with Iisalo in charge, be prepared to see Grizzlies run lightning fast PnR and screens.

Man, drafting Cody over Buzelis is going to one of those "What ifs" we blame for not getting over whatever hump we fail to get over 6 years from now.

On the face of it atm that’s a real possibility. I’m still holding onto some kind of Grady Dick reversal of fortune for the time being tho

Houston Rockets are a #2 seed? Really?
Yep. Crazy talented and have so much room for improvement over the next few years. Over the next 5 years the top of the west is going to be stupid good with the thunder, rockets and spurs. Cracking that top 3 may be impossible.

Very real possibility. It's going to be painful to watch when Buzelis turns into a star and Cody probably washes out in a few years. It's kind of shocking how bad Cody is. Give any other scrub the same opportunity that he is getting right now and almost every one would be more productive.

The difference is Grady Dick is good at basketball. Will not happen. A Tony Snell outcome would be great at this point.
