He was projected 3rd by everyone till the pre draft process started.
And? Players move up and down the board all the time. Ace was not the clear 3rd best prospect at all. The biggest harm to Ace’s draft stock was his poor play at Rutgers.

Taller early career Ray Allen?I like the Rashard Lewis comparison (though Bailey will likely be better than Lewis).
Lewis could get his jumper off, had a nice mid-range game, was a good defender and was athletic - though Ace is more athletic and will shoot more volume than Lewis.
The biggest problem with Ace going to Rutgers is that he wasn’t coached. The poor talent around him obviously makes things more difficult, but a real coach and strong program would have made him look much better. He was leaning into the bad stuff, and there’s just no way Rutgers was going to tell him it was wrong.
The predraft stuff had minimal impact on his draft position compared to his actual play at Rutgers.
I'll admit that I was very down on Ace pre draft but it's clear that he has some incredible talent. The jumper looks automatic and he has been active defensively/on the boards. The early Rutgers stuff looked bad but he did improve as the college season progressed. If he can improve with attacking the rim/getting free throws, he could be an elite scorer. I'm optimistic that Will Hardy and this coaching staff can get Ace there.
Your right. It wasn’t the fact he didn’t work out for anyone and told everyone in the top five not to draft him. And? Players move up and down the board all the time. Ace was not the clear 3rd best prospect at all. The biggest harm to Ace’s draft stock was his poor play at Rutgers.
