Jackpotting Around - It's Just One Game... But...

My biggest thing with Kessler is his inability to draw fouls and make FTs. I'd rather just play it out and see what he has in store for his contract year.

If he takes the leap, I'm fine with investing.

I'm not sure what Chadwick settled on for what he would be willing to pay Kessler, but I wouldn't go over 25 a year and I wouldn't compromise on giving a player option in the final year.
That’s the proposition. Would you settle for 25M a year and if he takes the leap great you got him for cheaper or would you rather have another year of data on him before you commit that much money towards him?

- Brice is a top 6 shooter when he averaged 1.4 pull up 3s per game last year?
- Giving up on Cody when we have no reason to?

I get that this is an overreaction pod, but these were over the top even for an overreaction pod.

Wrt to Walker, it's obvious that the Jazz don't love him which may or may not prove to be the right judgement. If the money was what it seems, I think it's a mistake, but time will tell. What's concerning to me is that this just seems to be another situation where the Jazz drag it out and mismanage another asset. This wishy washy stuff hasn't paid off and I don't think it's gonna pay off here either.

I don't think this will be a mistake that sinks the franchise, but it's just another event that inspires poor confidence in the FO. NGL, I think FO has been pretty trash since the Don/Rudy trades and this greedy/indecisive approach is the biggest reason. What is a situation they managed well? Simone?
I think if the Jazz didn't like or value him as much as you are saying they would've traded him.

IMO, they day value him because they have not traded him. They just either couldn't get even remotely close on a number, so the Jazz are letting him "prove" he is and/or they are wanting to keep/have more financial flexibility next summer.

But that for sure does come with risks, pissing off Kessler and having another team willing to overpay him.

What you’re saying makes sense. My read on the situation is that the Jazz aren’t in love with Kessler, but they also won’t trade him because they are greedy/stubborn in trade negotiations.

Well I would agree with the part about if the LAL are involved there will be a "Laker tax" for 2 reasons. Ainges do not particularly like them going back to their BOS days. And after the Luka "trade" certain teams, like the Jazz, will require more in a trade that will make them that much better.

Holding off on Walker might work out if Ace becomes the hot sister. Everyone's gonna want to come over and play.

Sarah was on Hardwood Knocks and went really hard. Specifically saying Key is the worst defender in the league...
Can I ask yall (since I don't watch as often or as closely as I used to)... how off-base is she on Key's defense?

It would be really quick work to make a compilation of Key ball-watching in no-man's land.

I know he's bad, but how bad is he? Like, bottom 10th percentile? Or..?

Based on last season Key was the perfect tank commander. He chucked up bricks and couldn't guard a chair. Plus his attitude sucked. I've been presently surprised the first two preseason games. Perhaps he realized he was a greasefire last season and is attempting to make amends.

Yeah I think bottom 10% is fair. Its just the ways she states it as a "known fact" that he's "the worst". She has said it on her own podcast before as well. No way to determine obviously but weird someone that covers the team would be that bold.
