Walker Kessler out for the year

Are there any details about the injury? Was he playing on this torn labrum all season, or was there something acute that happened in the Suns game?

Time to start taking trade offers of Lauri.
Finnish daily journal iltasanomat already hinted that Kessler's season ending surgery might be start for Lauri's trade.

Kessler injury means that Jazz has significantly weaker C rotation, and losing the pick is now more unlikely. IMO this means less pressure to pull off trade button on Lauri unless the offer is mind-blowing.

According to this research article NBA players have normal careers after shoulder surgery, but take a year to return to normal. Or in other words we might be able to expect this to be a non career altering surgery, but should probably expect Walker to look worse than normal next year and be back to his normal self the year after.

Jazz will give him a team friendly 3+1 (team option) for around 100 million in total. He wont get boned, but he wont get a huge payday like Im sure his camp was angling for.

Yeah - I am pretty bullish on him still getting paid, either here or elsewhere.

It's a torn labrum. One-time, acute injury that is very repairable. Not like his brain exploded or this is his 3rd straight season-ending injury.

Lauri won't fit within our timeframe though so shouldn't we max trade value while he's playing so well even if it isn't mind-blowing?

Didn't read, and probably offering an over-simplified hot-take here. But I would think someone like Walker has a game / skillset where any lingering shoulder issues may be less impactful. As long as he can elevate, reach his arms out, grab rebounds, and shoot within 5 feet, he'll maintain 99% of his effectiveness. I would imagine a long-range shooter who suffers that injury on his shooting arm faces a much different road back.

Bursitis is miserable. My wife has hip dysplasia and it began to develop bursitis in her hip, which caused her to nearly not be able to walk. It lead to her getting gastric bypass surgery because she couldn't exercise to lose weight and couldn't get around without a cane. Now it is under control and she can walk just fine, but she said that was some of the worst pain of her life, that bursitis. Yikes.

Yeah of course, but if Kessler's absence tanks the already bad defense more, they have less pressure to trade anyone if the asking price isn't met. It was my only point. So the silver lining in this situations it might give Jazz extended time to keep waiting offers. I am shocked if Jazz feels pressure to trade Lauri 30 games in, bc Kessler absence Should mean that average and better teams wipe Jazz.
