Keyontae George progression watch this year

This is going to be a difficult negotiation because Key's camp can point to comparable that suggest he should get paid more, but at the same time the league has become weary of non-defenders. Basic numbers look good, but advanced numbers (while very much improved) do not love him. Hard to know what contract that means in the apron era.

I wonder where's Key's head is at. I think WK really wanted a deal and the relationship was soured when he didn't get. Key might want to chase a max contract, but personally I don't think he's done enough. Even if he keeps this up the whole season, I don't think he's a max guy.

Hasn't been updated with yesterday's game yet....but I we've seen regression in the way I expected. His FTA have come down, but his 3P% has regressed back up.

Keyonte is going to want over $30M/year if the shooting percentages and defense continue to hold up. He's going to point to Jalen Green and say he's a more effective player. Maybe something like 4 years and ~$130M.

At this point I'm hoping he agrees to a 5 year deal just short of the max.
Orrr…

Wait so you have max cap space for the potential Giannis free agency. I think that has a 51% chance of happening. Might as well try to have max cap space when there’s an actual use for it.

This point about smallish, poor defensive guards being very much NOT en vogue is really important. The article that @Tremendous Upside posted yesterday lines up very well with other, more meaningful data points like the Jazz having to attach an asset to Sexton for Nurkic, that they had to buy out Clarkson.

I think the market has over corrected for these types of players, but if it holds, the Jazz would be foolish to not reap the benefits of this trend.
