What's JazzFanz's stance on Marriage Equality?

Hate to tell you but lesbian lovers ain't male role models even if they are butch.

I agree, Neither are widows and divorced women. So, one more time, if the point is to have a male role model, how does their experience differ from that of the children of divorced women/widows? If it does not, why is this an argument against gay marriage?

The divorced and widowed woman tried to give their children a male role model (called a father) and succeeded for awhile.
The lesbian has no interest in providing one.

Just because a man and woman are divorced does not mean that the parent without custody (usually the man) is not involved and a role model. I am extremely active in my daughters lives. See them often and frequently. I know about their schooling, friends (by name), likes in boys, clothes, activities...

Edit: I teach them to keep their word, be honest, respectful to their mother and family, not to bully...

I do not think you meant that men not married to a woman cannot be role models but that is the impression your post implies and I am living proof that it is false.

To me marriage = husband+wife. Simple formula. Husband+husband or wife+wife = common law partnership, union, whatever other name you want to call it but marriage.

See, one atheist gets it.

I'm just responding to a couple of articles from men who grew up in lesbian households, who claimed the lack of a male role model was a severe handicap to their lives. Men like you were not intended to be included in that discussion. I apologize for any offense.

In both cases, from what I can tell, the parents in question started out in heterosexual relationships, then came out as lesbians. So, you are just wrong, as usual.

Why does it need to have a different name?

The highlighted word answers your question.

Is my marriage identical to yours? Does it need a different name? If your answers are no to both, do you have a sound, secular reason for saying this difference is relevant?

Why woman is woman and man is man? Lets just call everybody human??? Marriage = man + woman. Union/partnership/whatever = man + man, woman + woman with the same rights as marriage... so simple, yet why so opposed? It is just terminology, really.

Are you married to a person of the opposite sex? If you answered yes then the basis of your marriage is the same as mine regardless of how you and your spouse choose to carry out or participate in your marriage.

Oh?

Married to the opposite sex is different than being married to the same sex. Still married, though.
