Dennis Lindsey: "The concern on Derek Favors and Enes Kanter playing together is non-sense"

I always thought it was a stupid idea that they can't play together especially since I believe Kanter can shoot the 3 pt and be a stretch four on offense. Since they have really played together how would any one really know.

So Jazz fanz let's review:

Last summer DL took over for KOC and started fully running the show.

He worked magic on draft night and picked up Burke for the Jazz.

Then he worked some more magic and managed to scope up Gobert as well.

Then he went about systematically ensuring a Jazz tank. He signed players like Lucas, Clark and Thomas all season long.

But that was not enough for him. He went out and worked a deal with Denver and GSTankers that landed us a 1st rounder this year, a 1st rounder in 2017 and 2-3 2nd rounders in the coming years. All for expiring contracts that will allow Utah room to maneuver in free agency.

Put Corbin on notice that this year he will be judged not on how many games he wins or losses but how he gets the Core to develop. Especially on D. We were the leagues worst D team at points. Rumors are that a "decision" on Corbin could be made as early as this weekend.

Now today. He is saying they will free up Enes to spread the floor, that Kanter and Favors can work together, that Hayward needs to refocus and have fun, that +/- is unfair to young players...all things trumpeted here over and over.

So on top of all his actions he is now, once again, showing he gets it, is aggressive and in it to build this team to a title.

So Jazzfanz, do you have faith in DL now?

I sure as hell do.
I am so stoked now!

Yes locke has his silly locke offensive rating, but you're wrong in saying he doesn't reference it. He talks about it every other morning on tip off, and most postcasts.

Locke just interviewd Kanter 20 mins before the DL interview and told him he doesn't help the team win, and how the stats show it, etc. not making stuff up. Maybe I just listen more.
Locke is a tool. Basically telling a guy to his face, "you suck" in his last interview. If I were Enes, I'd refuse to do any more interviews with him. Enes should just brush off Locke for anyone else he could spot...even if it was some student from the Daily Universe.

In DL we trust. Dude will be a top GM in the NBA soon enough.

>>Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey admitted the Jazz finished surprisingly close to the unannounced over/under line a couple of team management personnel set for this season after the organization decided to jump into the rebuilding pool. (...)
I’m very confident in our group, the character of our group, the ability to move forward. Whether it be with internal improvement or using our salary cap or using our draft picks, I expect us to be better next year.

We also should not forget that this was the tanking year, and it's easier to look non-unsuccessful when your team ought to lose.

The harder part of the job for Lindsey will start, when the team ought to win and the contracts fatten up, key players gone and roster needs filling the holes to maintain whatever success that has been achieved up to that point.

I like the electric coming from DL. I hope he does well.

Perhaps facts might help here. First, Locke has never been tied to the plus minus stuff as he has a far more complex system for analyzing effectiveness - which candidly is much better than a riduculous + -. DL simply made the point that some people rely on it too much which any real fan understands. Second, Locke was factually spot on earlier in the year when he as well as others all realized the obvious fact that Kanter and Favors did not play well together. And Locke openly acknowledged that had changed toward the end of the year. So he and DL were agreeing. Go ahead and bag on Locke if it floats your boat but you guys are making stuff up.

This.

Most people are too hard on Locke. He's not perfect, but I think any Jazz fan should be able to appreciate him.

I appreciated him. He does not stop working.

But as soon as I got the hint that he was majorly a voice of the FO, I started to pay less attention to him.

My claim that he is a serial killer still stands though.

Although his harsh undressing of Kanter during the exit process seemed contrary to what Lindsey then said.
