What Utah going to the Pac does to rivalries

Ngata was a Utah product from Highland I think. He went to Oregon and now plays for the Ravens. Utah may have had a shot at a guy like that.

You're right. One cannot help but think that if Ngata were to be coming through the Utah HS system today, he'd strongly consider playing for the Utes now that they do have a strong program and are in the Pac-10 anyway.

I never said Utah would finish 5th in the PAC. I just said you're delusional if you think they'd win the championship. You really think you could beat 9 out of the current PAC 10 teams this upcoming year? That's what it takes.
Hell, Utah won't even win the MWC this year, and you think you'd win the PAC 10?

So who would you pick over Utah in the PAC this season? Remember, the current PAC champion and favorite to win the PAC this year just kicked their starting QB off the team. And this is the same team Utah barely lost to on the road last season with Cain starting at QB.

Well Salty already said a lot of what I was going to say as far as Harmon's comments, when I first saw him even before he spoke I thought "why the hell is a writer for the Y even talking about the U" and after he spoke to help my annoyance subside I told myself "aauuhh who cares let the jealous, bitter team ride the coat tails of the U's media time they'll need it, after all the U is in the PAC10 now". I am not so much of a homer to say if the bid had happened in the mid 90's the Y would have been the choice and even now they are good enough to be in a BCS conference but timing, the NCAA politics and of course religion (for the PAC10) is what has kept them out IMO.

Salty, do you even know your own team? You guys lost one ****ing game with Cain and two with Jordan Wynn. Why would you even act like that matters? You guys probably would have lost that game by a wider margin if Wynn played. He got hammered in big games and couldn't respond to the physicality. I fully expect that to be the case for three more years. Dude's a wuss.

As far as recruiting, nothing's going to change. Utah will become Washington State and move their recruiting into the 40's on Scout.com or whatever by picking up a few extra guys. Big whoop. Almost none of our recruiting class last year even gave Utah a thought. Jake Heaps wasn't going to go Utah under any circumstances. Ross Apo wasn't going to Utah under any circumstances. And on and on and on. Nothing's changed at BYU. Or were you mistaken that recruits were coming to BYU just because they are in the same conference in Utah?

Don't be. Did I ever mention that Utah has won only six conference championships in the last 46 years on here? BYU has won 23. Get out of here with your garbage. They aren't even on the same level as programs.

Not according to the Pac 10. Boom bitches.

Who gives a ****? Rutgers is going to be undefeated in 2012.

Boom bitches!

Sanu or Savage will be sitting in the Downtown Athletic Club in December, only to finish 5th in the voting.

Who cares? Again, the increased revenue means absolutely nothing to the average fan. Look at your basketball team. Tepid support now despite the great Rick Majerus years. I'm not saying Utah won't be able to compete, just that you guys should probably temper those expectations. You're a commuter school, commuters will stop coming to your games if you lose. If you guys truly think the Pac 10 is a better football conference than the Mountain West, then you are also acknowledging that Utah is more likely to have down years more frequently. I'm just saying the transition would be much easier had you guys been an average football team over the past few years. As it is....expectations are high....and will be humbled shortly. Go Trojans!

Look, it's not a bad life for the athletic program being Arizona/Arizona State/Washington State/Oregon State/UCLA/Stanford/Cal. They'll get a little extra money....be able to hire strippers now for potential Utah recruits....buy the occasional Reggie Bush.....whatever. Utah fans should just look at it as a tax. The product goes down, you guys end up having to pay more for tickets. Win-win. No sour grapes. Lemon juice.

The short answer is, Yes. They could. I don't think there is any team in the PAC 10 that they have no chance against, right now. That being said, I would like TCU or BYU's chances in the same scenario, also.

It's fortunate you have that figured out. Gonna save a lot of wasted time playing football games. I expect BYU to do well this year. They should have a real chip on their shoulder.

To tell you you my opinion on it, I think Utah will be in the top 1/3 of the new PAC just about every year, with a shot at winning it some years. My only point was that I don't think this next year (2010) is one of those years.

LOL!!! Talk about a bitter BYU fan.

Yes, I know the team. And Wynn is WAY better than Cain. If you don't understand that, then you obviously don't know the team. Losing a close game with Cain starting (and stinking up the joint) would have likely been a victory with Wynn starting. At least the Wynn that ended the season, as he probably wasn't ready that early.

And you're crazy if you don't think this has any impact on recruiting. As has been pointed out, Harvey Unga is a prime example of a recruit BYU probably loses if Utah would have been in the PAC at that time.

Rose Bowl or Vegas Bowl? Do you honestly see most recruits picking BYU? Maybe a few here and there for religious reasons. But nobody is going to pick BYU for football reasons, that's for sure.
