ESPN Player Rankings - Jazz Players

I've been older than every single NBA player for a few years now, so nothing new for me. Something I'm not used to? Realizing the Jazz have a player (only one for now) younger than my son.

Stockton & Malone - The Art Of The Pick&Roll

Nice. I watched it all the way from 1984 (Stock only) to 2003, and I remember their greatness first hand, but it's fun to watch them run it over and over and over like this.

    2014/15 Schedule

So 1-12 to start? That's an improvement, right?

BREAKING NEWS - Jazz close to signing Toure Murry

Is it? Diante Garrett $798K John Lucas III $1.6M Jamaal Tinsley $1.2M, $1.3M Earl Watson $2M, $2.3M You just don't get salaries much lower. A minimum contract for a rookie could be 2 years, $1.3M. If you take a second year guy it's 2 years, $1.7M. There just aren't a lot of options that come in...

Jazz decide to keep Ian Clark

This. At first I thought they might waive him to preserve a little flexibility, but there's just not that big a difference. Unless there's someone really compelling at the rookie min, why not keep the guys who has been in the system for a year?

Jazz Trading JLIII, Murphy for Carrick Felix

No. Felix was only on the Cavs' payroll for $816K guaranteed. They traded him for all guys they could waive or trade, so $0 guaranteed. End result is Cleveland dumped $816K in payroll. However, the more I think about it this wasn't a straight salary dump for the Cavs. They wanted as many...

Jazz Trading JLIII, Murphy for Carrick Felix

No way the Cavs were giving up more than a 2nd for $816K in cap relief. There have been times I thought the Jazz should have gotten more for taking on salary dumps. This isn't one of them.

    Summer League Question

Because there are two venues in Vegas, so two sets of games going on at the same time. I haven't looked to verify, but I suspect they are showing the games at one venue live and the games at the other venue on tape delay.

could have had him for $52 million over 4 years

I don't think an exact figure was ever released, but the rumor was 4 years, in the mid-fifty range. In my mind, that meant 4/$55M, but it could have been a little higher or lower.

Hayward has agreed to an offer with Hornets

Can't do this any more. See Larry Coon FAQ #44, near the bottom of the section. Paragraph starts "There can be no compensation..."

Dante Exum to wear #11, Rodney Hood to wear #6 for the Jazz

While I'm at it, honor Frank Layden and Larry Miller in some alternate way as well, given that they never wore a jersey (not counting that night Larry put on the short shorts).

Dante Exum to wear #11, Rodney Hood to wear #6 for the Jazz

Even Dantley...I'm not sure. He was an incredible scorer, especially given his size and that most of his scoring was in the post. His 7 years break down like this: * 4 years leading a team that averaged 27 wins * 1 season carrying the team to the first winning season (45 wins) * 2 seasons (41...

    Bill Simmons/chad ford podcast

I don't see it that way. To me "in hiding" implies that he was intentionally sitting out competitive basketball so that he didn't damage his draft stock. I don't think he was doing that. He graduated in December because that's when the school year ends down under. He didn't have much option to...

    Bill Simmons/chad ford podcast

Interesting because I thought Bill Simmons was down on Exum during the draft. He sounds pretty positive here, at least bouncing off Ford. One specific complaint he had was that Exum "went into hiding" basketball-wise for the last year. Hello, Bill, it's called Australia...it's in the southern...

Dante Exum to wear #11, Rodney Hood to wear #6 for the Jazz

In most cases, I have grown to hate the idea of retiring numbers for players. I've seen Exum wear both 7 and 14, but Pete Maravich and Jeff Hornacek have taken those numbers off the table, so he's 11. I have no issue with 11, but if Exum would prefer 7 or 14, why not? I'd like to see teams hang...
