What would you do if one of the Jazz sits or kneels for the National Anthem ??

I hate the national anthem. It sucks. It should be "America the Beautiful: Not "rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air" but "brotherhood, from sea to shining sea." That's what America is supposed to be about.

good post dude for real. A lot of people don't understand a racial tone exist bigtime in the anthem. Blacks were fighting for England who promised them freedom. Great post by you because many people are not aware of the racial tone of the song. American the Beautiful is a great choice. God bless America is a great one also but imo got to keep away from the religious tone.. For some reason all of this music talk reminds me of a song when I was a kiddo, We are the World. Man so many great artist were on that song

Replace it with a Heil salute to Silver and those white "slave" owners and bigoted TV execs who are responsible for giving these poor, persecuted, oppressed people $500K-$30M per year.

Meanwhile the African-American CEO at Kaiser makes ME slave away for much less than $100k. I wonder what I should do to protest?

such a worthless post but doesnt surprise me one bit coming from you.I totally have always pictured you as a closet racist. They also don't just give them money. They do have to work for it, They normally have a lot of community work to do too. Sure they make lots of cash but way you are stating it makes it look like they are standing in line with a hand out. Totally always knew you had deep racial feelings but honestly doesn't surprise me at all. People are an extension of the environment they come from and Utah is a majority white state who main religion Mormon have looked down on blacks and Native Americans its entire history.. So many people like you in the state of Utah so don't feel bad.. Them colored boys that play ball are only here for your entertainment correct?

You should probably storm into his office and give him a piece of your mind. For sure that's what you should do.

Don't let the black man hold you down, bro! That's not the way it's supposed to be. No way!

I wouldn't care at all. I would consider not standing for the national anthem in protest as part as a given right for freedom of speech.

What the **** are you talking about? Oh, you're just flailing like usual? Carry on.

I personally prefer Dixie Song.

This is a VERY weird ceremony to people outside of the US. In Europe they play the national anthems before games only when the national teams are playing. I personally wouldn't care much either way.

Playing basketball is also a very weird ceremony to people outside of the US.

America is a patriotic country. Many of us feel blessed to be here and we see it as a sign of respect for all that led to our good fortune. I can understand why someone who doesn't feel fortunate wouldn't see this issue the same way I do.

My first time in Europe when I learned how differently they feel about patriotism it surprised me, but I do understand their reasons. In most cases it is not a lack of respect for what their country has given them as much as an awareness that they must coexist with other nations without offending (which patriotism can do).

I intend to remain patriotic, but I will do my best to maintain an awareness of the unintended negative effects it can have on others.

Seriously, one of the worst posts that has ever been crapped upon this board. My hell.

I will support any Jazz member that would sit/kneel during the anthem. This is a real issue that needs to be addressed so I have no problem with them protesting in this fashion.

I don't know bruh. We had an actual white supremacist once who talked about rounding up all non-whites and shipping them out. And he wasn't an alt or a troll.

My issue is that you are coopting someone else's thing for YOUR thing. You want to protest? fine. Pay for the stadium, the ushers, the crew, the TV cameras and the tickets for the people that have to deal with your issue. Once you put on the Jazz uniform, you need to be playing for your team and not making an individual spectacle for yourself. If you weren't wearing the Jazz uni, nobody would care. You don't have a right to use the status somebody else has built in order to give voice to your pet projects. You want to do that on YOUR time, fine. But when you wear the Jazz uni, you better have the team buying in as a whole, because you are borrowing THEIR credibility. I can't imagine you are building team unity with that attitude.

Now imagine you were a former starter who got demoted because you sucked. You have even less right to involve your teammates, in your cause, on their court.

Also, you re not "building awareness," you are being an ***. Nobody has said, "Wow, that guy being an *** is really bringing me around to his point of view! Maybe if he would just block traffic on my way to work, I would totally support him!"

I'd just be happy cuz after the national anthem comes basketball... And I love basketball.

Seriously though "raising awareness" is kind of weak. Go raise awareness by actually doing something meaning full. Sitting out the pledge is disrespectful to those that bled and died or lost someone close to them. This country will always have problems and we shouldn't ignore them but seriously sitting out the pledge and disrespecting police officers is lame. Kaep is more about the attention he is getting than the cause IMO.

I heard DMC is actually like working with some community groups to facilitate meaningful discussion. That's what we should be hearing about... Not lip service... Not look at me... Actual real stuff.

ummm his actions have facilitated a ton of discussion, including your post. If it wasn't provocative it would be ignored. CK reignited discussion about BLM when it seemed to be losing steam. Trump and the ignorant backlash, stupid rationalizations, and downright apathy was reasserting itself. Kaep may be a douche and he probably is but he and his fellow players have done something good by sitting out the anthem.

PS Trying to shame other people into falling in line by putting police officers on a pedestal or pretending that our national symbols only represent fallen soldiers is lame. Our active military men and veterans are not that dense though it appears that maybe a majority of our police are.
