Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

I wonder how the little winning streak of 4 in a row impacts the Jazz's plans. It could send a bad message to the team if they trade away players who have been helping them win.

I wish there was a deal for Hood or Joe Johnson.

Well, hood ain’t been helping ****

What do yall think about Tobias Harris's availability and what it would cost to get him?

If LAC is tearing it down, would they be interested in a swap that included Favors and some filler?
If they're tearing it apart, then it's Favors and a first
Apparently Kawhi is not happy in SA. He would make us an instant contender. How do we get him??

Well, hood ain’t been helping ****
Agreed, maybe once a week when he can actually make a shot consistently
If the Celtics had 15 years of losing and then in 2033 made it to the playoffs as an 8-seed and they were playing against a super team made up of genetically altered Russian cyborgs , I would probably still hope Boston got swept in the first round.
That was straight out of left field lol

I dont like how Ainge turns players into commodities, how players like Kyrie, and Dullward dont care and how so far it works out in Boston's favor.

So long Marcus.

It also bugs me that year after year Ainge is setting prices while everyone else seems to be taking them. And mostly ut bugs because he will probably get his asking price...again.

Players ARE commodities. It works both ways. Sometimes, even when a franchise loves a player and is willing to pay more than anyone else, that player still leaves. Ask Cleveland, OKC, Indiana, LA Clippers, Denver and Utah, among others about losing stars or stars forcing their way out of town. I have no problem with owners treating players the same way players treat owners.

Ainge is a shrewd GM. He's stocked the team with young talent, traded players for top value, and made great FA acquisitions. I don't see any team challenging Boston in the East for the next decade. They're stacked. And Ainge is wise enough to see he can't afford Smart as a RFA. We're doing the same with Hood and shopping Favors. Should have done the same with Millsap and Jefferson. Well, essentially we did as letting them walk enabled Utah to take on all those contracts from GS. Unfortunately, DL wasted most of the extra assets chasing that ever elusive PG.

I hate Ainge and hate the Celtics. But what he has done as a GM is phenomenal. Cleveland got screwed in the IT deal. You don't trade for a 30 yr. PG with a career altering injury. But GM's continue to deal with Danny so that's their problem. But Boston may not get the 1st. Everyone knows they can offer Smart a deal this summer which Boston won't match.

Decade? No.

I think you meant to say we should easily get a lottery pick.

I think Hood is worth something in the 10-14 range, pick-wise. The problem is GMs think their pick/choice is going to be awesome and would rather take an upside-risk gamble of their choosing than trade for a guy of Hood's capabilities.

Rebuilding teams want cheaper talent. And in this draft, you can perhaps get the equivalent of Hood with a lottery pick (one who will develop as such on a rookie deal). Besides, they know Utah doesn't want to match an offer this summer. He's just not good enough to give up a valuable asset for the right to match a salary in the $20M range (give or take a few million). I think Rodney has more value to a team in the playoffs. Drafting back in the 20's, it's worth trading a pick for an extra shooter. Unlike Favors or Johnson, it's very easy to match his salary with an end-of-the bench player who isn't needed.

Well, give or take. Gordon would be 37, but Irving could still be very good at 35. And Tatum and Brown are all-stars in the making. Celtics also have a few draft picks still to come, IINM. They're a contender already and will only get better. We're looking at the next W's.

No, they are not. They dont have 2 of the 3 best players in the NBA and 2 other all-stars to go with that. They have Irving who might be top 10. I dont see anyone on that roster being a top 3 player in the NBA and not two of them. They might have 4 all-stars but I am not sure of that either but even if they do that is not the same. They will probably be good for awhile though, but not dominate the league to GS level.

I mean, Boston will be good, but they will be challenged. Raptors are still a really good team. Lebron still exist in the East (for now at least). Phily exist. Miami exist. Washington exist. I don't think Boston is good to the point where they are just going to cakewalk like Lebron teams did for a decade in the East.

A GM would have to be insanely dumb to give up a first round pick for Marcus Smart. He is trash and at best a 10th man. Now in his 4th year in the league, he has not improved at all since his rookie year. He's probably the worst offensive pg in the league. Worse than Trey Burke. His solid defense doesn't come close to making up for it.

All the admiration for Ainge is so overblown. Their star player couldn’t guard a saw horse.

They arent going to become the next GS. I’m not even convinced that they will even get out of the East if Lebron doesnt leave.

Why are people still convinced that Hood is getting a 20 million dollar contract? You can stone lock guarantee that this does not happen.
I don't think the Jazz are scared of an offer that big. I think they are scared of him getting paid a couple million over what they want to pay him, and feeling obligated to match for a guy they are going to be bringing off the bench as a 6th man.

He isn't trash. He is one of Boston's best players. He makes a pretty big impact defensively, way more than solid.

But yeah, I cant see anyone giving up a pick for him.
