Game Of Thrones

This final season is ruining the ENTIRE series. What the hell happened to the writers? Do they not understand the rules to storytelling?

The white walkers began the series. You can't destroy them midway through the last season! You have to kill them in the final episode. That plot MUST be intertwined with the plot and subplots of the rest of the characters.

It's been infuriating to watch.

I don't have a problem with them dispatching the white walkers before they dealt with Cersei (apparently GRRM is a big fan of the scouring of the shire from LOTR, so this actually makes some sense) but they did a poor job of making them a very serious threat.

They went through great lengths throughout the story to talk about how the Long Night would be this cataclysmic event, but I never felt like our characters backs were against the wall, so to speak.

I think if executed right the Dany turning evil plot could have worked. It was rushed a bit too much for one. I still think the whole plot of trying to steal a wright just to show Cersei last season was lamer than anything this season.
Whole wright plot was insanely idiotic

Are we just going to ignore that there have been zero good boobs or good sex scenes in like, forever? We really gonna end with Jamie and Brianne?
Lol

When I wrote this, I was being tongue-in-cheek and trying to be funny (I shouldn't.) After I reread this, it didn't come across as funny. It came across as awkward and creepy -it puts the lotion on the skin-esque.

Anyway, my gf "watches" the show with me except she doesn't like the violence or gore (it's hard for her to separate fantasy from reality) and she used to always say GoT was like watching soft porn. She's watched the last two seasons more thoroughly and enjoyable than any of the others. There's still been some gore, but she's been a trooper.

Speaking of gore, the CGI gore in the last episode was the most noticeable gore I recall seeing in the series. It's almost like they rushed it.

Unpopular opinion: I still love the show.

Dany going off the deep end to the extreme she did feels implausible but it reinforce two main themes: "absolute power corrupts absolutely" and "your DNA sets your destiny"

Dany started seeming to be pure and reverted to her DNA by going all "mad king"

Jaime was evil, showed signs of redemption, and reverted to his DNA by returning to sis.

So my point isn't that there are flaws, but rather that some important threads hold together through the story.

Look at the amount of dislikes....pretty rare for epic show writers to meet such a disapproving by audience.

I appreciate that they are wrapping up the story lines. Dany being capable of brutality is not new... burning the witch, and the khals, showed that side of her. I could see her making an example to stoke some fear in Westeros, but to destroy the entire city was not supported by anything seen to date.
I enjoy the series and think this season is ok, but I also think it could be great. Let the characters earn the twists of the plot. Dany burning down the red keep was definitely earned, burning 10s of thousands of innocents not so much. What, she went nutso? Or is she calculating? The calculating queen B was supported, the nut job turn not so much. If they need that twist to set up Sansa, Arya, Jon, or Tyrian taking her out fine, but show her becoming unhinged, not just throwing a tantrum because the last straw was Jon kissing her like she is his auntie and not his hottie.

Yeah, you can. Ultimately they were a hollow enemy with no emotion, nothing vested. Dany vs Cersei vs etc, we've all been following these characters for years and have our personal favorites. It just isn't being handled well.

Actually, I would have been OK with it if she'd taken out the scorpions first, then the red keep, and then finally gone on to destroy anything and everything else. Like, why take the time to destroy the civilians before your ultimate goal?

I mean the mad queen heel turn was expected tbh. Thought about it, but its crazy to think that shes gone THAT far. I could see her.

The 7 kingdoms are totally going to war vs her *** next episode. They saw her torch and entire city into dust

So, after watching the behind the scenes video, I have to give them credit/ kudos for how they told the story. The production was pretty amazing. That may have been the challenge. They had to spend so much thought and energy on how to make it seem real, that they took the story they were telling for granted. C for story, A for production. Overall C+ to B-.

What Danerys did was so politically clumsy that there's just no way she can rule Westeros. So the question now is how she's going to be dealt with.
