Thats a big number for someone who will likely be a pretty poor NBA player. I appreciate the Jazz being loyal but like cutting Favors loose because his contract was too big I think the Ingles extension was a pretty big mistake.

I'm also day drunk so it is what it is.

When has ten million here or there made a difference between winning a title and not winning a title? Middling teams have been hamstrung by contracts because it makes it difficult to move forward, but I can't think of a single case where a mid-sized contract was an albatross to a contending team. If you're a contender, you can move just about any contract because people want to play for you.

It’s going to be a problem near the end of it for sure. I have absolutely no idea why they did it a year in to his contract

He wanted to know he would be here so that he can plant deeper roots. He has kids and a wife and wants to plan the best he can. He accepted a bench role willingly. This was not a business decision for the Jazz... it was a people decision. You bet your *** others are watching and that Joe will sing our praises. I get it... might be an overpay... didn't need to do it, but we don't run our organization like trader Danny in Boston... players aren't "assets".

Oh I get why they did it. They’ve been wise with contracts as far as building relationships-that’s why they gave Exum an over pay and Favors a good deal for a year. That shows not just players, but also their agents, that the Jazz are good people to do business with. That was likely a factor in Bogie signing here. Heck, Joes current overmarket deal follows that strategy itself.

That said, joes already on a great deal. Great money, plenty of years. He’ll be 37 in the last year of his deal now (I think.) I just think you should’ve seen how he looks at 34 before extending him.

The Jazz cut Favors loose to create the cap space needed to sign Bojan.

Ingles will be 34 in the last year of his deal. The Jazz added only one additional year to his contract--which was to expire after next season.

Nah dude he'll be 34. Would not be shocked if he gets extended beyond that too. Joe will play play ten years in Utah.
