What's new

The official: Bogey is the best offensive player the Jazz have.

Basically a 6'8 JJ Redick. A shooter that everyone would love to have on their team.
Don’t know that I’ve seen Redick take people off the dribble.

That said, Redick was the guy I wanted most that year in the draft. I envisioned him being what he’s being, but next to Deron. Took him like 6-7 years to get there, though.

Doesn’t really matter how he gets there... he gets there and he finishes
Are you kidding me? Of course it matters how he gets there. If he only has one way of driving then the defense will adapt and negate that line of attack, especially come playoff time.

Yes, Michael Jordan took floaters.

Maybe one in the blue moon. The point is - Mitchell is taking way too many floaters. Cut down on them and instead take mid range jumper or drive all the way to the basket. His TS% would go up for sure - floater is the worst shot in basketball.

Of course it can be game planned. But we are talking about weapon #7 in our armory, not #2 or #3.

If Bogey’s drives become a point of emphasis for any team, Quinn will adjust and we will destroy them another way.

Damn you are dense... If they take away his hard straight line drive it means they are giving something else up... you don't have to be Kyrie Irving to be a driver. You said he's one dimensional and can't drive... he can... you're wrong. Giannis is basically a straight line driver... can Euro step a little, can stop and shoot a hook over a guy, but he isn't crossing people up and hitting step backs.

And that's what happened in the second game against Minnesota (at least I hope it was Quin's plan and not just a random accident). We had Bogey shooting threes instead of driving.

Damn dude, you must be an arts and history major because your arguments severely lack logic.
1. Taking away his only line of attack !== giving something up. If the player only has one move/one way of getting to the basket, then it's easy to predict how to stop that attack without giving anything up, especially in the NBA.
2. You literally mention 4 things that Giannis can do (1.straight line driver, 2.Euro step a little, 3. can stop, 4. shoot a hook over a guy) and you're trying to use this as an analogy as how Bogey being a limited driver is fine. Not to mention that Giannis is way more athletic than Bogey. Like holy ****, I'm done responding to your nonsense.

If a team takes away Bogey's straight line drive off of the curl then they are either dropping under the pick, and Bogey can step back and hit a three, or committing the big to stop it, which will give Rudy a great lane to roll, or they commit another defender to cutting off his path, which leaves an open corner three. It's not that hard to understand.

Also, there have been times that the big drops and Bojan goes right over them with the layup. It's not as easy to take away as you are making it seem and taking that away puts pressure points in other areas that has benefits to us.

I mentioned Giannis because he is primarily a straight line driver... his physical tools and athleticism make it really difficult to stop... Bojan doesn't have those... but he does have a wet *** jumper and a mid-range game that Giannis doesn't... not saying they are similar, but a basic drive can be effective and really difficult to scheme against.

I don’t think so. I think Bogey was simply hot from the outside in game two, so he didn’t need to drive that much. But it’s not like he simply hovered at the 3pt line all game.

After watching the G-League Warriors stop Bogey's one dimensional drives, I'm convinced that the 3 point shooting plan for Bogey in the Minnesota game was an accident and not part of Snyder's game plan. We're not doing well in the playoffs if this continues.

Stop.

It’s wild how the total percentage of posters who only say positive things about the Jazz has decreased.
That's what you're really saying.

A lot of posters here are more concerned with getting likes than actually analyzing the game. But go on with hurling your indirect, non-constructive, veiled insults to get your likes :)
