No Extension for Walker Kessler?

Signing Ayton may have made a Lakers-Kessler even more realistic lol.
And yet, the Lakers cut off negotiations with the Jazz and signed Ayton instead. Do we think the Lakers have learned anything? When they have cap space they dump the thought of Kessler and think about older stars that might be available. Kessler is like eating vegetables.

I'm absolutely shocked it isn't working.

Lakers are a **** show and Luka may have wished he stayed in shape to stay with a Dallas team built to his strengths if this continues.
I think Jeanie Buss and the Buss family are very happy they traded for Luka and added more value to the sale so probably no regrets at that level

So this headed towards a Gordon Hayward level disaster after one game. Pay your young players… sometimes they get better.

Except he's restricted so not quite Gordon level.

Hayward only had the option to leave because we cheaped out him and that allows him to get a PO. And perhaps just as important, we disrespected him and he held that against us later. It mirrors the Hayward situation very closely. We can match anything, just like we did with Hayward. Doesn’t mean it won’t bite us in the ***.

Kessler is the opposite of showtime though.

I mean, Gordon's option wasnt to only leave. He left to play for his old lover Coach on a Championship team. I'm not saying it isn't a bad situation, I'm saying it isnt the same as Gordon's.

If Walker really believed in himself and knew he could put up that kind of performance he did last night throughout the season, there's no way he was going south of 30 million per year.

I'm gonna guess, if Walker continues to play very well (obviously not as good as last night, but just overall very good) I think he gets in the 33-ish million range (I believe 38 per year would be his max)

Duren is kind of a more interesting RFA case to me.

I think the Jazz will match whatever Walker gets. He's just clearly very good.

Duren is kind of iffy to me. The Pistons are often better with Stewart playing the 5. He's the kind of player I feel like his own team might wince if he gets a 30 per year offer from the Lakers.
