2020 Presidential election

I don't often agree with Piers. But this article is spot on.

This is actually true. I'm surprised Piers Morgan is the one pointing it out. Taking ambiguous, albeit racially insensitive, remarks that Trump made on Twitter and trying to turn it into a campaign shows a level of pettiness, fake outrage and political naivety that doesn't reflect well on the Democratic party. These women are coming off as whining snowflakes when there are far, far more significant issues they could be taking on. This is not the look the Democrats want.

Oh don't worry, these women are also taking on a variety of other important issues as well.

I've said this before, but Trump's long history of racism completely robs him of the benefit of the doubt when it comes to racially insensitive things he tweets, and these women are justified in responding to his attacks. After all, isn't punching back something Trumpers admire about him?

Also, Piers' article sucked.

As for the current candidates, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren's socialized economic policies come off as so far left and out of touch that I don't think either candidate is electable. The tuition-forgiveness and free healthcare for everyone, including immigrants, are just going to be deal-breakers.

Joe Biden is the senior statesman among the Democrats and a relatively calm voice of reason as a centrist, but the left wing of the party does nothing but attack him. Plus, he's showing signs of age to the point he occasionally comes off infirm. It seems the Dems are looking for someone who is younger and sharper to emerge.

The youthful and openly gay candidate Buttigieg doesn't come off as particularly strong, articulate or definitive in his views on policy. He comes off as a novelty candidate representing social progressivism, but I don't think he'll hold up in an election.

I like Tulsi Gabbard generally, and think she's personable, relatable and has genuine conviction, but she's back in the pack of candidates.

At this point, I think the Dem party is going to try to push Harris to the front. I could see her carry several blue states, including Calif., Washington, Oregon, Massachusetts, and New York, but I don't think she'd get much farther than that.

I think the Dems realize they're not in a strong position for the 2020 election, and they're going to keep attacking Trump with Mueller and anything else they can muster. In the end, I think Trump gets re-elected with roughly the same electoral majority he had last time, or a bit more.

Trump was last place with 50%.
John Kasich was my highest rated Republican
Gary Johnson was my highest rated not Democrat.
Joe Biden was down at the bottom of my list.
Marianne Williamson was 14th on my list.

I think it's dumb that one of the questions was "which candidate would you vote for. Seems like that would skew the results

You foresee Harris only winning 5 states? In the general or primary? If it’s the primary you’re talking about, you think Harris will carry warren’s Home State (Massachusetts)? That’s... interesting. Very bold.

And if it’s the General, you only think the Democratic nominee will only win 5 states, meaning several blue states would swing for trump? So You foresee trump winning New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, New Jersey, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Illinois, Hawaii, and sweeping the south, every midwestern state, and every non-costal western state? Essentially, a landslide not seen since Reagan’s 84 victory or nixon’s 72?

Wow.... ummmm... great analysis. Nate Silver must be quaking in his boots.

I have no idea who to vote for in 2020. The only pressing issue to me is fixing the national debt problem. Literally, I don't care about anything else in comparison to this one issue. The last president to balance the budget was Bill Clinton.

Is there a Democratic candidate that has any intention to limit or spending or find a way to balance the budget?

No, there is not. They are all pushing extreme socialist programs that would add trillions overnight.

I am still trying to find the racist part of his tweet. Telling people to go fix the problems where you come from and then come back and show us how is not racist.

Here is some additional information on the balanced budget in the 90s.

It's been pointed out about a thousand times on here that telling people of color (again most of the ladies in question were born here in the USA!) to go back where they came from is a racist trope.

You may not want to believe that, but don't pretend it's some great mystery.
