All of this ignores that the FBI was looking into the Trump campaign well before they had the Dossier completely independently of FusionGPS. And you are incorrect that they were hired by Clinton in 2015, in fact they were hired by the Washington Free Beacon, a conservative organization which was doing oppo research into all the Republican candidates. The DNC and Hillary brought them on in 2016 to continue the work they had already been doing.
You're right that Fusion GPS was first hired through Washington Free Beacon, and paid for by a large donor for Republican Marco Rubio. That same research by Fusion GPS was then taken over by the DNC and Hillary's campaign in the spring of 2016, with invoices paid through their law firm. However, according to internal reports at the FBI that were just unsealed, the FBI "looking into the Trump campaign" was primarily Bill Ohr's wife Nellie Ohr, who also worked for Fusion GPS, funneling her research to the Justice Department through Bill. At the time, Bill Ohr was an Associate Deputy Attorney General under Obama.
The point is, the entire FBI investigation into Trump-Russia collusion was tainted by Fusion GPS's political research for the Democrats, and the FBI under James Comey knew it plainly. The main failure was on the part of the FBI to take unsubstantiated and politically-funded stories about Trump/Russia conspiracy and turn it into a two-year special counsel investigation that yielded nada. It was all political theater.
When the full report from John Durham comes out, it will show that senior Dems, Fusion GPS and a faction within the FBI were working together to knowingly paint a false narrative in an effort to discredit a sitting president. That's pretty ugly.
Nancy Pelosi has known this all along, and that's why she's refused to go along with an impeachment inquiry. She knows it's going to backfire on the Democrats, even if the whole thing can be blamed on corruption at the FBI.
