2023 NBA Draft Megathread

prosper averaged .1 bpg (blocked 5 shots all season), only 4.7 rebs as a 6'8" elite athlete, and .7 assists as a wing (24 assists all season). negative assist/to ratio. due to his athleticism, he has some potential. but he's a second round prospect, maybe you take a flier on him at 28. but he's a workout warrior with some potential at this point.
His defensive tape is pretty good despite low stocks

Maybe GG will actually be available at 28. Seems like he's really hurting his own stock with this recent stuff. This is where not signing with a big agency hurts. I'm sure DX stuff is partly due to him not having an agent to protect him. Sounds like his Pro Day was bad because he made it too hard? Which would be some your agency would develop for you. Sounds like his interviews aren't going great, which is something your agency would coach you on

None of this changes how I feel bad about his potential, still think he just needs to get under a good team.

He won’t last until 28 because we should take him at 9 I thought.

What's the latest? I heard the complaint was that he didn't go hard enough in his Pro Day, or that he looked winded about 10 minutes in. All any team needs to do is bring him in and they can conduct the workout however they like. The interview process is the thing that should make or break his draft stock. If he's coming off like Hassan Whiteside in his interviews that will drop him.

But what's the "recent stuff"?

None of this is his fault. It was those advising him telling him where to go to school... his coach and teammates were bad so its their fault he struggled... at workouts he struggled to make shots so its his agent/management... he isn't interviewing well so its his PR team... he flamed out at his first stop but his gm and coach wouldn't let him be GG... whoops I skipped a chapter on that last one.

The DX thing about his workout being low percentage shots. DX also said he had bad measurements which is wild to say because while his physical measurements aren't elite, they are clearly damn good. That kind of thing tells me there is something about his team/camp that is rubbing people the wrong way.

Ok bud.

First of all, GG measured out the same height as Taylor Hendricks. Second of all, GG has added an inch and a half of wingspan in less than a year, which shows that he's still growing. And in terms of his shot selection, he's showing he can hit from multiple spots on the floor, including turnarounds. That's a good thing. Besides, it's his workout. He and his trainer can show whatever they want. If someone wants him to workout differently, then bring him in and make him run suicides or whatever.

Someone else put out on Twitter that some teams have him medically red-flagged for a back issue. I think there's some posturing going on by some teams trying to get him later in the draft. Teams could be blowing smoke at Jonathan Givony.

Unless he's interviewing like Hassan Whiteside -- i.e., doesn't show a love for the game, or professionalism, or have a clue about where he is, etc., I think Pat Riley will take him at #18.

Okay, now you're just being an ***.

I think NBA teams realize that GG's Melo impersonation is a load of **** and wanted to know how he might function in a real environment. Can't blame them for not buying into something that was horrible all year. I would be disappointed if a player is so invested into trying to be something he can't be and continues to demonstrate that he's bad at it. They just want him to cut out the BS and show off real NBA skills but he seems committed to being a bucket getter.

We shouldn't count his SEC games because they were too hard for him. Now what, his workout against air too hard? For any other prospect, we would discount non conference play and empty floor workouts because that is too easy but for GG we ignore these things because it's too hard.

If I were the Jazz, I'd have Keyonte in the mix at #9. He has the potential to be a high-level scorer and on-ball self creator who can play at the 1 or the 2. I actually like Bufkin as much or more, but think Keyonte is going to have some big scoring nights. He's the guy that's going to pull defenders out 30 feet from the hoop.
