2023 NBA Draft Megathread

He just looks more like a 4/5 to me and I'm not a believer in the shot just yet. Hendricks is more the 3/4 type and the shot just looks really good. I think he could be like Jaden McDaniels on defense and Jerami Grant on offense.

I'm good with either guy and Walker could have some Bam/Green to him. I just think Hendricks may be the easier guy to fit even if he isn't quite as good of a player.
I think you got it flipped.

Hendricks is more of the 4/5 an Walker is more the 3/4.

Damn. Dude looks like Steph out there.

That was my first look at him (the highlight that Cy posted) and reggie miller popped into my mind at the beginning of the video. Then as the video continued and he started creating his own shot and driving I started to see steph if I squinted really hard.

Day 1 in the league a team has to dedicate a defender to being a magnet to Hawkins cause if he gets a sliver of daylight he’s a problem.

That opens up an offense wildly, especially with other weapons…..like, say, a 7’, curly haired, chiseled Gawd…..

He has shades of those guys... but those guys are all kinda different. I think his production is not super far off of Lonzo's college production. Assists are lower but Lonzo had some great teammates (for college players). I mean Thomas Welsh has still never missed a 15 footer. I don't think he is as good of a passer as Lonzo or Giddey... not as good of a shooter as Tyrese... but he won't have the issues finishing that Lonzo had. Lonzo's shot had to be re-worked too even though it went in a lot.

I'm all in on Black... Amen is probably the better big pg prospect but I have my doubts on the jumper and what he'd look like on an NBA floor. Its partly the off court stuff on Black too... he's the gym rat type and everyone raves about his approach/personality.

I might have him at the same or similar spot on my board....but not because Black shot up or anything. I think outside of the top 2, there haven't been many guys that have popped. I remember thinking there could be like 8-10 guys who could pop and be a top 3 top prospect but none of them have really jumped out....although you do have to credit Brandon Miller for playing well. Reading up on Black before the year I thought he might be an elite passer, but his numbers and what little I've seen of him him more so suggest that he's a guy who has a good feel for the game but not quite that high level playmaker/passer. I love the idea of a 6'7 versatile PG, which why I would have him near the top of the "underwhelming" prospects, but I worry the idea of him is better than reality.

It's really cloudy after the top 2, maybe 3 with Brandon Miller alone in a tier down. Maybe it's a good thing, as I see a lot of guys popping up to a mid potential first round rating like Sensabaugh, Clowney, Hendricks etc and guys that we thought might be top 5 dropping to that level. That's where we're going to draft so we should have options.

I'm a believer in the Thompsons. No one is going to stay in front of them on a spaced floor, and they're putting pressure on the rim the moment they cross mid-court. Amen should be a big-time playmaker, and Ausur should be a really good finisher in the lane. Both should be plus-plus defenders.

this might shock you... I agree.. I think that is why I am less concerned about Black not being a huge producer... seems the college class is a bit sluggish.

I still like the draft as most of the player types in the top 20ish are the types of guys I like. Not a lot of non-shooting bigs and the pgs seem to all have decent size. Lots of flexibility in the group.

Well, no one is staying in front of them right now....whoever the heck they are playing against. I didn't realize they are 20 years old and I really have no idea what to think about 20 year olds playing against....I don't even know who plays in OTE but I think it's high school kids?

I think there will be a choice between a bunch of players, I'm guessing Danny leans into what he's leaned into in the past. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I'm irrationally confident we're going to draft Dariq Whitehead lol.
