The thing that gives me hope with GG is that he cried when they lost in the sec tournament. He must really care because I think most players would be checked out emotionally by then. So I have some hope for his development. I just don't think he is a top 10 talent though, but still potentially a good player.
He was the main reason they couldn't improve...If my team kept getting blown out in the first half of games week after week, with no hope of improvement, I'd probably pout and throw a fit too.
He was the main reason they couldn't improve...
NahDick is gonna be drafted after 10 and people are redraft him top-5.
You haven’t watched him defend then. He is a Dawg on the perimeter.Hawkins’ shot has poor arc and I’m not sure what else he does on the court. Fine height but overall seems small.
I just don’t personally see much of an NBA player. If that shot translates then he will find a way for sure.
Son I watched a lot of their games. IF GG played as a team player they would have been much better. His teammates regularly outperformed him on both ends with little to no help from him.No, they had one guy on that team that qualifies as a point guard, and that's Wright who came off their bench. They had one or two guys other than GG who are even worth guarding on the perimeter--Meechie Johnson and Chico Carter. Otherwise, defenders were sagging off the other two guys and clogging the paint. GG had nowhere to drive, had no one to give him the ball with an advantage, and couldn't get space on the perimeter unless he pulled from 23+ feet. That's why over 60% of his offense was unassisted. If GG didn't score close to 20 points, SC didn't have enough offense to even stay close to most of the teams in the SEC. So GG forced a lot and didn't even look for his teammates.
SC had about 8 - 10 games this year that were over for all intents and purposes after the first 8 minutes of game time. The team just wasn't competitive.
You have to look back at what GG did with Team USA to see what he looks like with real teammates.
Hes a level or two from dawg for me, but is promising and I dont think he will be an awful defender at the NBA level. The lack of mass is a bit concerning. You haven’t watched him defend then. He is a Dawg on the perimeter.
This is Team USA tape from last summer. GG played a lot of minutes in this game against Ecuador, who was a zero opponent, but you can start to see what GG looks like when he's integrated into a talented group. He makes a few nice passes for assists and a couple passes back out to the perimeter.
