2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

ORL has extra firsts, not good ones, but I'd definitely offer up Sexton to them for one of them. I think DLO is a better fit there though, and they are highly likely to prefer an expiring over a two year deal.

If we get Huerter via a John Collins trade to Sacramento, rerouting him to ORL is also a good option IMO.

Why would he trade Sexton, a negative player and one of the very worst defenders in the entire league?
He's not negative at all. As a matter of fact he is far and away our most positive player according to on/off differential (of the regular rotation players). He's actually #11 in the whole league on that measure. But don't let facts get in the way of your hate.

If we can help the Kings pass up Minny, I am in! Also, I don't really buy that the Kings are not sellers in the near future so I want their firsts to make it happen.

Open check for firsts with the Kings is where I go.

Sexton to the Spurs and Collins to the Kings improve both and potentially bump them past the T-pups.

I bet the Kings wouldn't want the first trade, but the second version makes some good sense IMHO. Collins is an upgrade as far as the PF position goes. He is the best player in the trade. They have dangled Huerter and Lyles to everyone and have no takers.

This was on the Podcast in a few different iterations but it's worth posting. The Spurs have 36 picks available to trade. Lots of options to pick from. Minny isn't necessarily the best, but it is promising.

They'd been in positive net points territory all season, but had just had terrible luck in close games. Maybe this was just the nudge they needed.

IIRC, they were extremely good in clutch games previously. That along with their amazing health record set up some false expectations.

Sexton has a -1.3 BPM. He is tied for the 7th/8th on the team with Clarkson, behind pretty much all other vets aside from Svi and Mills. And that's because only two other NBA players with > 200 minutes are worse than Sexton on defense based on DBPM (one of them is our own Keyonte). Collin is a massively negative player statistically.

That is all but one measure, but it is a self own because -1.3 BPM helps us win lol.

Nice to see you flip your stance on BPM when it suits your argument

Good time for Clarkson to hibernate, left on a good note and he'll be ready for the playoff run.

Cam Johnson is great, but if the Nets trade him for Obi + Nesmith (is he ever going to back?) that isn't sooo tanky. Obi has gotten pretty good, they'll score a lot with him.

LOL... simply look at how we perform when he is on the court versus off of it. He is our best regular rotation player and it is backed up with efficiency stats. Compare his TS% to other guards and its names like Kyrie/Steph/SGA. He isn't that good and the turnovers are an issue but of the Clarkson/Key/Sexton three headed monster he is far and away the most positive player. It isn't close. It isn't a one year phenomenon either. If you want to hate him then hate him, but he helps us win games.

Also Dlo provides a lot of what they are missing as far as a creator. I don't think they understand the assignment.
