2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

There are still Brogdon and Simons on the passing guard market. Both of them are a bit more expensive but are probably regarded as better players than Colin.

If you were expecting a first for Sexton, I don’t think you can really spin this as good news for his value.

I doubt the Blazers will just give up Simons.

Brogdon has health concerns.

With Schroeder off the market, Sexton should be the top target for the Magic. He's at a good cost for them and they can get off Cole Anthony.

Brogdon might be better, but he's often injured and he's an expiring contract. Sexton would give the Magic a good scorer for this year and next, which I would assume is important to them as they can't really add in free agency.

The usual suspects seem to be mad at me for sticking to my guns and saying that Collins and Sexton still have no market. Shrug.

Not trying to be a contrarian. It's just that people keep trying to talk these trades into existence but there's never any real interest. Ainge will have to take a big L if he wants to get rid of these dudes. Not sure he can stomach that.

Ainge's Jazz career has been full of some of the worst GM'ing I've ever seen. Incomprehensible (or nonexistent) strategy, bad drafting, publicly lying to his own players, reluctant communication. Just a clown show.

Maybe firing Danny Ainge is the first step on the road back to relevance. He seems to be more invested in BYU than the Jazz anyway. Let him devote 100% of his energy to it instead of just 90%.
Your post is a total clown show.

I wouldnt read too much into the value. Brooklyn took a value hit to ensure losses sooner.

That affects what BKN would accept, but not what teams are willing to give. BKN took the best offer available and it wasn't much. If there wasn't a lot available for Shroeder, probably not a lot available for Sexton either.

Agreed Sexton is a perfect fit as a scoring guard off the ORL bench. They have long defenders and desperately need to upgrade from Cole Anthony. They also have a bunch of stockpiled picks. The Anthony contract isn't horrible (2/$26 mil) but he really does stink and shouldn't get minutes here. I would think Ainge could finesse a FRP out of the deal if they are taking his contract.

If that Melton contract wasn't an expiring the Brooklyn deal wouldn't have gotten done.

Yup, Ainge is the ultimate finesser. The Magic are asset rich, so if they want to upgrade, there will be a cost.

Seems like good value for Shroeder to me. Melton was playing really well for the Warrios and wouldn't have been dumped if he wasn't hurt. Plus they got 2 second round picks. Maybe the best 3 second round picks from a team that will eventually be trash.

Sexton, to me, is an upgrade vs Shroeder.
