2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

I think Collin is positive still. I just think you might get like a protected but real first and expiring money for him. The Terry Rozier type value... and I think he's really worth twice that if the team is trying to win and utilizing him the way he could be. I just think you roll into the offseason with a top 5 pick and re-assess Collin at that point.

I like having John Collins around. He's a pro and he dunks cool and he tries hard. If a big trade comes along in the summer then great.

I’m a John Collins fan and don’t want him moved. He killed it last night.

I like John Collins just fine, but I sure as hell don’t want him to be the reason Jazz win meaningless games this season. I’m down with the young guys playing well enough to win, but don’t lean on guys like Collins/Clarkson to get it done.

Collins, Clarkson, Sexton and Eubanks are a solid batch of veteran salaries to have in a trade for a disgruntled star down the road.

Collins averaging 17-8-3-1-1 while shooting 36% from 3.

IDK what the Clippers really have to offer us, but they would be a much better team with him.

If Collins can play 4 like he did against Chicago, then he becomes a much more useful player. Chicago is such an unserious team that I'm not going to take much from that game, but Collins hitting above the break 3's, making great passes, and driving past guys was great to see.

I wonder if Collins is finding a new appreciation for coming off the bench. He's averaging the most shots per game since his 3rd year in the NBA despite playing less minutes.

Saw this, though I have no Idea if there is any credibility to it:

On Monday, Hughes suggested that not only could New York acquire Kessler via trade this winter but that the Knicks could also receive former Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson in the deal.

Utah would be receiving valuable draft capital in the trade along with Mitchell Robinson, who Hughes described as a “realistic target” for the Jazz.

“If the Jazz are going to move Walker Kessler, the Knicks are a logical destination,” Hughes said.

“They need rim protection, rebounding and cost-controlled deals as they contort to stay under the second apron.”

“Robinson could come back with a pick if Utah sends Kessler and either Jordan Clarkson or John Collins to New York. Added bonus: Robinson won't return from injury for another couple of months, leaving a hole in Utah's rotation that would only further its tanking efforts.”

I don't like that trade at all for the jazz

So the Pacers are struggling. Not sure why they decided to give Toppin a biggish extension with Walker waiting but that dude needs to play. I am fairly certain they wouldn't move him and would be much more likely to move Toppin... but it does feel like maybe Indiana makes a deal at some point. I'd just keep calling over there to see if they end up moving Mathurin or Walker... even tho they likely don't do it.

I mean, they rely on Haliburton being amazing and he has been way less than that to start.

Yes... they could also use another center. I had entertained in my mind a Hendricks, Eubanks, and pick(s?) for Walker and salary match. The idea being Walker needs to play and we can make that happen. Hendricks redshirting a year isn't the end of the world... but the injury is too uncertain and Pacers would have 3 guys with season ending injuries on the roster lol. It would never happen but in my mind for like 15 seconds I was like "well maybe".

If Tyrese continues to struggle I wonder if they try to move off of Obi's money to clear some more time for Walker and they take a step back for a year. I have no interest in Obi.

It was more me lamenting how stupid it is that one team has a prospect that needs time but they don't have it for him and one team that has ample time and the prospect they wanted to give time to is hurt.

I was thinking that Memphis would be a good place for Collins if the Edey experiment doesn't work. Collins is a 4 on defense and 5 on offense and JJJ can play 5 on defense and 4 on offense. Collins is a great rebounder to put next to JJJ as well.

Whitmore just fell out of Udoka’s rotation in Houston. They simply got way too many talented young players to figure out and it ain't like Cody/Brice/Key these kids can actually play. Vanvleet has been a disaster and he's not justifying his minutes or contract. They probably have to make some moves soon cuz they are too talented to not make the playoffs. We give them two vets who can help them win now and we get an exiting young talent who can bring the crowd to its feet.

Those back to back dunks on Walker is what sell you tickets.

If Houston is concerned about making the playoffs, getting rid of Van Vleet is probably the worst thing they can do. Van Vleet was their best player last year, and despite some really bad games to start the season, will likely be one of their best players this year as well. When a player has a bad stretch during the middle of the season nobody notices, but when it's at the first of the year it gets more attention than it deserves.

From a Jazz perspective this would be amazing. Van Vleet has a club option for next year.

But the Jazz dont want a FVV. Too old. Not good enough. Overpaid.

FVV has been a disaster? He's had a rough start offensively but has also been HOU's best player since he signed there. They can't win anything without him and are not trading him.

You may disagree with HOU's pursuit of the playoffs, but the fact is that's what they're gunning for and FVV is the most important piece to that puzzle right now. The idea that JC and JC are going to help them win more games is incredibly laughable. Justifying the trade by saying HOU has too much depth and then giving them more depth is comical.

I personally wouödnt mind this but Whitmore was reportedly "not an option" for us in the 2023 draft, and I dont know why that was but I suspect it hasnt changed.

Out of FVV, Whitmore, JC, and JC.....JC and JC are by far the worst two assets for HOU. I expect mock trades to be extremely Jazz favored, but this is ridiculous lol.
