What's new

Are there any Kanter apologists left? What are they saying?

Who won the trade?

Jazz took on bad contracts of:
R Jefferson
A Beidrins
B Rush
Which cost 24 million

Jazz got
2014 first rd pick= Hood
2017 first rd pick=???
They also received 3 second round picks= none have been used yet

Instead the Jazz could have resigned D Carrol and P Milsap rather than take on the bad contracts. If that would have happened here is the Jazz current roster.

Trey Burke
Dante Exum
Gordon Hayward
Alec Burks
Derrick Favors
Rudy Gobert
Paul Milsap
Demarre Carrol

Not entirely true. The Jazz pick that was used in the trade to land burke would have been lower and thereby less valuable. Possibly Burke wouldn't be on this team.

Things like that are the problem with these what if scenarios. Those what ifs affect all the things that happen after. Like that movie the Butterfly effect.

Can you imagine how good we would be with Millsap and Carol? How many draft picks would Millsap get alone? Much better than golden states bad picks and a lot less salary taking back thats for sure.

Dennis Lindsey, where trading top picks for future lower picks happens.

Dennis Lindsey = Disneyland DLindseyland. Enjoy the magic and fantasy he surrounded this guy with.
Dennis Lindsey...where getting franchise players happens.
Dennis Lindsy...where getting great coaches for our young guys happens.

Utah Jazz...where having the best defense in the league since the Kanter trade happens.

size/huge boobs = Troll Land. Enjoy whatever you're smoking while the rest of enjoy Jazz wins.

I'm with stoked. Maybe Corbin is still here, if that were true, Gobert may still be riding pine, or traded, or worse, never acquired due to the glut of bigs. Also Sap and DMC contracts go longer than the GS contracts did, so we would be in a pinch and would be looking to shed salary somewhere.

I wish we would have made a Kanter type trade with Sap and AJ, but short of that I don't think there was much I would have done different with the magical powers of hindsight. Who knows if a trade Sap for expirings plus picks was even available.

You do realize there's a salary floor, right? Would have spent that much had we made the trade or not, either by signing overpriced vets or paying out the difference between the floor and actual salaries paid to the existing players on the roster.

Had we not obtained that extra pick, we would have remained at #14. Not sure if Utah would have taken Giannis or not. I DO know they would have taken Gobert at #21. DL hinted at that before the draft by saying everyone was sleeping on a big international player. Couldn't have been anyone else. So, they used the pick to trade up for Trey (oh well) but managed to buy back in to take Gobert.

In response to another post, I think Lindsey is looking like a freaking GENIUS right now. And oh yeah, not a bad GM before him who was responsible for getting Favors and Hayward (and previously trading up to get Deron). Oh yeah, let's put Kanter into the "win" column as far as the draft. Very good player. Just got pushed aside by the man who just might be the best of his generation.

And not a bad choice by Lindsey in terms of bringing in a new head coach. Lindsey is already a top-10 GM.

The pick that was traded in the Golden State trade was used on Rodney Hood. Get your facts straight before you post next time. Where is the evidence that supports Lindsey was going to draft Gobert with the 21st pick in the draft? I don't see any supporting evidence, without is its just simply your opinion. Opinions isn't allowed on this board without supporting it or else you lose all credibility.

lmfao

I am here.
I waited 3 years to register on this forum. Waited till Kanter leaves, so nobody can call me a homer.

Well, I am happy about the Jazz situation with Gobert. It was the right thing to give Gobert his development/playing time.

But don't forget that Kanter was 19 when he was drafted. 3 years Jazz abused him. In 3 years he could have developed a decent defensive game but it didn't happen. And now, because somehow Jazz luckily drafted Gobert, all people act like Kanter was the last piece of s*it. Nobody admits here that he wasn't treated fairly and yet he has always been a 20/10 guy. He could have been a 20/10 guy with a decent defensive game... A future Allstar.

Anyway, Kanter is happy, Jazz is happy, Gobert is happy now. So everything is fine and stop this rage against Kanter, he didn't do anything bad to the Jazz team.

Can you guis imagine how good we'd be if John Stockton hadn't ****ed up and aged this last 20 years???? What a tool Stock is.

That is possible and if we ended up with a lower draft pick we might have ended up with Giannis Antetokounmpo instead of Trey Burke

Ummm, sorry, you can't have it both ways. With Millsap and Carroll, the Jazz would have been fighting for the playoffs: No Exum. And likely no Favors. He was in the same situation as Kanter. He didn't want to continue to be a bench player. Also, you need to look at future salaries.

Hayward - $16M
Favors - $12M
Burks - $10M
Millsap - $12M?

That's $50M with only 4 players. Only $13M under the cap to fill out the rest of the roster. Use the exceptions for a couple of seasons and the Jazz would be getting awfully near the tax line. There was no knowledge at that time the cap would jump in 2016.

But like I said, the Jazz had two big choices to make:

1. Millsap or Favors
2. Jefferson or Kanter

Both Enes and Derrick had made it clear they expected to start. RE-sign Al or Paul and that's a clear signal for either to demand a trade. I do agree Utah should have tried to keep DMC. Then again, if you look at the player he was under Corbin, he was pretty average. He developed into a real 3&D player by working with Quin in Atlanta. That's probably a codemnation of Ty and his staff more than Dennis.
