What's new

Burks will be Rookie of the year.

Don't stop there. Burks is a rich man's MJ. He is a lot like a more skilled and more athletic Kobe Bryant. He reminds me of a Dr. J that can actually jump. Sometimes he makes me think of Oscar Robertson if he had been a more all around player. Burks plays a lot like a combination of D Will, CP3, and Stockton, but with a better handle, jumper, and court vision.

There, that's better.

You took the words rigth out of my mouth!! ;D lol

You forgot that he is a better rebounding and scoring version of Chamberlain, he's like Yao but with some height, he's similar to Pistol Pete except he really is more flashy. He has more vert than Spudd Webb and Vince Carter combined, and he's a better on the court coach than MJ ever was.
Did I mention he was cut from his pee wee league team, and he has held a grudge against his coach ever since. He is determined!

He also played Middle Linebacker for his HS football team and was recruited by both LSU and Alabama.

Unfortunately his jersey became untucked during the charity game and he didn't seem to care, I'm not so sure he's a Jazz man...

He won't get enough playing time.
Well, if Sloan were still coach, you know Burks would be parked on the bench behind Bell and Chucker. With Corbin, perhaps there's a chance for Alec to get 15 mins/per. Still, with Millsap likely getting a bunch of minutes at SF, especially if Memo is healthy, there aren't a lot of minutes available for Burks. You have to think CJ and Hayward, with a sprinkling of Raja, will eat up most of the remaining minutes at wing. Alec won't get enough time to put up ROY numbers. Only hope I have is that CJ and Raja get dealt at the trade deadline. Perhaps the rotation is then Millsap 30 mins at SF, Hayward 18 mins at SF and 18 at SG and Burks 30 mins at SG.

The biggest problem Burks faces is not the numbers game. This isn't Denver where he'd be buried behind Gallo/Aflalo/Smith/Chandler. The problem is statistically 19/20 year old rookie wings aren't ready to contribute out of the gate. Hayward is a case in point. The guy didn't belong anywhere near an NBA court until February.

I'm excited about Burks. But I'll be pretty surprised if a guy who was used to handling the ball 80% of the time is going to make a clean transition to playing off the ball. Hopefully he surprises, but I'm guessing a little patience will be needed while he adjusts.

Millsap is not going to get a bunch of minutes at SF. It will happen, but it will be rare. If it does happen, it will be a huge mistake/disaster.

IF it does happen, I'm assuming Millsap will have proved he can play there. Therefore it will not be a mistake/disaster if that happens.

If Burks can just hit mid range jumpers off a curl/screen, convert 3 point plays at the rim, and play adequate defense I'll be thrilled. If he has a 3 point shot I'll be ridiculously thrilled.
