The best player combinations that work in which situations?I'm not saying Al shouldn't get starter minutes, just that I'd rather see Fes getting minutes than Elson. Given that, I think it's worth thinking about what C/PF combos work best in which situations throughout the game.
Now that's a concept that would be good for Sloan to maybe, possibly think of doing.
(After all, it kinda sounds like Coaching 101.)
I wouldn't be surprised if Al/Fes is a good combination, especially against big lineups. Al-Fes-AK-Bell-Deron is a possible starting lineup against the Lakers (assuming Fesenko comes back).Maximizing time for AK/Al and Millsap/Fes makes some sense to me, and (esp. if Fes gives more consistent performances knowing that he'll play the first 5-6 minutes of the games) perhaps the best way to do this is have M/F start. Who knows though -- Jerry will have to make decisions on chemistry.
AK/Fes might be a lower-likelhood PF/C combination. I just want Sloan to try things and find what works on a game-to-game basis, not just robotically put in Okur and Millsap like he used to.
