What's new

Chad Ford on ESPN 700 with Keith Stubbs today (6/11/14)

Doesn't matter what Favors "considers" himself to be. He has to play around the basket. It's really a non-issue. Is Tim Duncan a center or a PF? I think he considers himself a PF. He was when Robinson played for SA. So call Vonleh a PF and Favors a PF. Jazz play with two PF's.

Worse comes to worse both Vonleh and Favors have elite length.

Worst would be Vonleh not having the alpha dog mentality. Without that, nothing else matters. I've heard conflicting things from different scouts. He is a very polarizing prospect. But his lack of impact on such a bad team makes you worry a little bit. If he was on a better team, you would probably think he was just playing the role of the freshman on a team with championship aspirations. But, he wasn't. I've heard excuses like "the coach was an idiot," or "the pg didn't pass to him," but if you really are the next Chris Bosh, aren't you demanding the ****ing ball? Aren't you relentlessly out there to prove to your teammates that you are worthy of being followed? Without those characterisitics, I don't see him as worthy of the 5th pick. When I listen to him in interviews, I don't hear hunger. I hear a pushover.

Not every great NBA player was dominant in college... Not saying that. I just question his heart.

I love Favors, but his lack of motor and heart are his biggest enemies, and the reason why he still is where he is in his development. Players need to feel this game in their souls.

I'm hoping the #5 big board is :

1. Anyone from top 3 miraculously falling.
2. A. Gordon
3. Exum (closely behind A-God for me.)

5. Vonleh

Mine is

1. Anyone from top 3 miraculously falling.
2. Exum
3. Smart
4. A. Gordon
5. Vonleh

Favors considers himself to be a PF, not a center. If we draft Vonleh, I hope he has SF skills.

Favors willingly played Center all year last year.. with the way the league is going with PFs being more mobile, etc, I don't think it's possible for Favors to go back and play the PF position, he's just too slow a defender.

Look at the NBA Finals, we have Boris Diaw and Rachad Lewis playing the PF.. those guys shoot 3's on the regular and Favors will have a tough time chasing them down.

why would burke's size worry the jazz now if it didn't a year ago?

i'm just not sold on exum. i hope someone else takes him so we don't have to roll the dice.

I think it did worry the Jazz last year. However last year's draft was a worse crapshoot than this year.

So do Shaun Bradley and Hasheem Thabeet. Get those two together and no one could ever score against them.

I keep hearing that word 'elite' on this board, and it makes me think of this:

Oh crap, how the hell do you insert of GIF in here? In any case, think of Inigo Montoya.

One of our reporters (I forgot which one) tweeted a couple of the GM's considered Exum more of a two than a one. It's Exum that says he's a one.

If Exum is available at 5 and the Jazz don't draft him, I'll have lost some faith in Lindsey. And I don't love Exum. The Jazz need to do everything possible to position themselves to get one of the consensus top-3. I don't see any team trading down for any other player in this draft.

So if you don't see any team trading down, how do the Jazz position themselves for a consensus top-3 (Wiggins, Parker, Embiid)?
By many accounts, including Lindsey, Exum isn't in that top tier.
