Coronavirus

I love it when they anthropomorphize things like viruses or evolution. I get what he is saying, it just cracks me up to make it sound like there is some virus conference where they decide they need to kill less people.

"Look at the common cold people, it has a hold on this world. We need to be the new common cold! We need to become less deadly! Yes, I know we like killing people, but unless we can turn the dead bodies into vectors for infection...yes, that is a tall order...then our best bet is to emulate our cousins and tone it down, get more people to pass us along. We need to stop the kill!"

*crowd roars*

*someone throws a molotov ****tail...the revolution is in full swing*

LOL. Nice.

In Michigan 3 out of 4 hospitalizations are the unvaccinated and 89% of patients in intensive care are unvaccinated. I assume the numbers are similar in other states.

I still blame Biden for all of this. He’s so sinister. He planned this. By telling republicans to get vaccinated he knew that republicans would refuse to get vaccinated. So it’s really all On libs at this point. If you’re a doctor who’s tired of unvaccinated and sick MAGA flooding your ICU, do the responsible thing and blame a liberal who told others to get the vaccine.

Well thanks to Joeflation gas prices are so high that people, mostly Republicans, can't afford to drive their jacked up trucks to the vaccine clinic. It costs a lot to fill up a truck big enough to mount two dozen Trump flags.

The lowest I saw was 80% as I recall, with some in the high 90% range being unvaccinated, so clearly, even with drops in efficacy over times, the vaccine is working.

Pfizer today says that a 3rd shot is needed, which will to do a great job defending against severe illness/hospitalization against Omicron.

I saw this and thought it was pretty funny.

“Should we just send one to every American?” I groaned as I watched a clip of White House press secretary Jen Psaki responding sarcastically to a reporter’s suggestion that there might be better ways to improve access to rapid coronavirus tests than letting Americans get reimbursed by insurance companies for their cost. Inwardly, I screamed.

That kind of lack of imagination about how health care can work is beyond frustrating to witness once you’ve experienced a system that takes a different approach — one that’s both simple to navigate and free at the point of service. One that, yes, provides free coronavirus tests to everyone.
I am a dual citizen of the United States and Britain, now living in Edinburgh, Scotland, and I am able get rapid antigen tests anytime I want to, at no cost and with no hoops to jump through. I know that Americans pay more than $20 for a package of two tests — if they’re in stock. Here you can walk into your local pharmacy, and they will just hand you packs of seven tests at no charge. In my neighborhood I can also go to the local recreational center and collect packs of tests free for my family, or swing by a coronavirus testing center.
Why the **** are we charging people for tests? How does that encourage people to test? How does that aid in beating this pandemic?

Our health care system is so terrible. I just bought one yesterday $25 bucks. If we had a larger family, I could easily spend $50-$100. And now I’m only going to use this when I feel really sick rather than periodically check. This is stupid. Honestly, I wished I lived in Western Europe. I don’t need the gun violence and stupid health care system that we have here.

So, has anybody done antibody tests either after vaccination or after positive tests?

I did antibody test today in the morning and the result is 31680.0 AU/ml
Reference value is <50

Majority of omicron cases in the US are fully vaccinated individuals

Confusing info. If they are fully vaccinated ( two doses) then how to interpret the data of "1/3 received a booster?" Do they mean 3d booster? Good news - almost all of these cases are mild and no hospitalizations were needed - which is what vaccines are suppose to do.

43 cases? Small samples size. My guess it that the places that it has shown up most are bigger coastal cities (more flights from other countries arrive in bigger coastal cities) that happen to have very high vaccination rates. If that is the case then it would make a lot of sense for most of the cases to be found in people who are fully vaccinated. Also probably shows that the current vaccines dont protect against this variant particularly well so maybe the vaccine will have to be altered to better protect against the new variant. Hopefully the symptoms remain mild and omicron doesn't cause our hospitals to get overwhelmed. If thats the case then I dont think we would need a new vaccine for this new variant. Will be interesting to watch the data as the sample size grows.
Thanks for the info.

He was so excited to tell us that more vaccinated people had it though. Why did you ruin it for him?

I think this is like the 5th time you've posted an article about vaccinated people getting COVID. So whatever.
It’s no secret what he’s doing. I thought your response was appropriate. If @Scat is butt hurt over it then he should get over it. Vaccination is still the best tool we have to avoid illness, spreading it to others, and taxing our already overtaxed health care system. There’s plenty of delta still around and even though omicron appears to do better against our vaccines, it’s still beneficial overall to be vaccinated.

I think its weird that a lot of people in our country seem to be rooting against the vaccine. Like they want the vaccine to not work. They are rooting for covid.
Rooting for covid and against vaccines.
Rooting for putin/russia and against usa/biden.

Strange times

2nd best tool is masking & social distancing, and they're against that, too.

Yeah many refuse to do it and make it a point to go out into public and defy mandates and business requests to put on a mask and then claim that since the virus continues to spread it is proof that masks don't work.

Seventy-five percent of people who have died of the virus in the United States — or about 600,000 of the nearly 800,000 who have perished so far — have been 65 or older. One in 100 older Americans has died from the virus. For people younger than 65, that ratio is closer to 1 in 1,400.

This why I believe the unvaccinated need to be kicked to the back of the line. If you decide Jesus is your ICU then go to Jesus. Don't clog it up for the rest of us. There will be heart attacks, injuries, and other variants that will tax our health care system. We should all be doing everything we can to help our health care workers out.
