Coronavirus

Yes. I do believe if we had had a serious POTUS who took things seriously the outcome would have been significantly different.
So in other countries that have had an outbreak, it's because of a failure of leadership, and not just the way contagious viruses work in "herds"?

I believe that a problem which requires leadership, expertise (or at least the belief in science), and a spirit of cooperation, is exacerbated by the world's dumbest, most arrogant, and most obnoxious human being.
If we had a capable president, this virus could have been better contained and Americans infected could have received better treatment.

You don't just denounce inconvenient scientific findings as "fake news", humiliate critics as "deep staters", cut CDC funding by 80 percent, and leave key health positions unfilled without consequences.

South Korea is much closer to China and was one of the first countries to be infected. It is adequately testing all of its citizens to contain the spread. Canada is testing all of its sick citizens even if it's supposed they only have the flu or cold. Canada has instructed citizens to stay at home.

We've stopped even attempting to test citizens out of fear that the numbers might look bad and hurt the president's re-election. Larry Kudlow told American citizens just 3 days ago that this will all pass and to keep going to work.

You seriously don't see the difference?

I see the difference in quality of leadership. Yes.

I don't see the difference in number of infections.

Have my posts been confusing?

SXSW got cancelled here in Austin. That's pretty insane. So much money lost for a lot of people. I had a roommate who lost 5k in gigs from that.

But if your country isn't testing and others are, don't you see how that might affect the number of infections counted?

I'm not the one confused here.

I haven't been talking about what you are trying to turn this conversation into.

I'm not confused. No country is getting a 100% accurate count of infections. The count doesn't matter to me. Obviously it does to you because it works as a political scorecard, which is what you are focused on. I'm talking about what could or could not be done to change infection rates, not in the count, but actual cases of infection.

I'm done. Sing your song and dance your dance because for you this is a victory. It doesn't matter that it essentially has nothing to do with Trump. It looks bad for him, so it's on him. Scoreboard.

I agree with you that Trump isn't too blame for coronavirus.
But thriller had a good point about if trump wants to own the stock market as his own and all his doing when it's great (when he had very little effect on it) then he should have to own it when it sucks (even though he has little effect on that too).

Wtf. Still only six cases here in NJ. Got my hopes up that school would shut down for weeks if not months.

Though I guess in the last 2.5 days, the number of cases in the tri-state area has increased near 150% to about 120 now. I don’t know. I think we need to hit about 75 cases in NJ to shut down.

LOL. Okay.

Yeah so Germany or South Korea might not be 100 percent accurate with their numbers. At least they're attempting to be as accurate as possible. We're not even attempting to be accurate out of fear of the result aggravating the world's most ignorant and obnoxious leader.

What you're arguing for it seems, is that leadership and scientific medical procedures ultimately make no difference. Whether our leader does not and advocates for nothing or whether our leader takes intelligent measures. I just don't buy that. And you can't use our infection count as evidence to support your opinion because we aren't even attempting to keep count.

This same rationale could be used to dismiss climate change claims, vaccinations, or anything scientific.

Leadership matters. Expertise matters. Science matters.

Much could be done to contain this infection and treat American citizens. We're dropping the ball because of our poor leadership.

I don't disagree. But when I state a fact, that infections in the U.S. essentially have nothing to do with Trump, Thriller responds like I'm kicking puppies.

Trump wasn't responsible for the increases in the stock market, he's not responsible for the downturn that was inevitable anyway. He wouldn't have been responsible if this had been SARS or Zika or whatever else that didn't affect the U.S. much even though it had a scarry run in other places, and he isn't responsible for covid 19. Trump is irrelevant in all those situations, which leaves us with the ability to evaluate Trump for what he is. Not for what is happening around him regardless. And what Trump is... he's an incompetent executive for the U.S.. He's a jackass. He's the least capable Commander-in-Chief in my lifetime. He is a complete failure as President of the United States. Isn't that enough? Do I have to blame him for covid 19 too?
