What's new

Dear Fat People

**** yeah, dude. Nice job. Granted what you are doing is the extreme of one side of the spectrum but still. I don't think I've ever come back from a run, hike or bike ride and said, "****, I feel miserable, why did I just do that?"

I think I've posted this before but here's a decent account of an ex fatty:

I'm not sure what was worse: those articles, or the fact that I read both of them. Holy **** balls, did babe write those? The only thing missing was a Magic Bullet and Jimmy Hoffa's corpse.

Why is this thread so mean to fat people? I think there are many here who could be fat because I see some people post like 30000 times and you have to be lazy to make that. I think we should let people be even if they are ugly or stink or fat. We should not be racist to them too. Right?

As a person who works in healthcare, there is way too much apathy about people's weight and associated health status. And I'm talking about people who are LITERALLY obese BMI >30. Everyone is free to make their own choices, sure... but then they suck the healthcare systems dry with all the problems they accrue as part of their freedom. High blood pressure, diabetes, lack of mobility leading to other heart, lung, and nerve issues. Even basic stuff like personal hygiene takes a big hit. Can't reach your butt to wipe properly? Can't stand in the shower long enough to wash off without needing to sit down? That makes them more prone to infection... The list goes on, and it is really frustrating from that angle. As a society we need to be encouraging of healthy lifestyles and helping people see how to do that. It IS completely possible to eat healthy on food stamps, my family has done it while I've been in school. It's just about caring enough to take time to plan a meal and taking the extra time to prepare it.

Can you be more specific? With the recent health articles that have come out in regards to cholesterol, fat and sodium intake, Mr. Denninger has been spot on. If you've got a problem with the meat of the article, what's the issue?

As a fat person I wish to go on record that I do not enjoy being shamed. That said, I don't give a **** what other people think about me, as long as they like me and are nice to me and stuff.
