Does Biyombo=Evans?

Hopefully, KOC won't catch this Bongo fever. I would be happy if Jazz pick him up at 12. If we pick him up at 6 then it's better for KOC to do his homework flawlessly. Big NO NO to trading up to get this Congo Bongo. Let someone else to fall in love with him and let someone better to slip down to us.

Now I could get behind that last bongo.

If this guy was american and not from africa nobody would be comparing him to Sene.

And yes there is a huge difference in the scouting reports. Sene was never called aggressive and powerful. He was a finesse player. You can watch it in his game. The aggressive factor alone is a huge difference. And the fact that Biyombo has been improving each month shows his work ethic is much better than Sene. Biyombo even has improved his jump shot according to scouts. He is even showing to be leader on the court and talking to his teammates on defense.

Here is the updated scouting report on draft express.

Yea...cause these three scouting reports sound NOTHING alike.....:)

Sorry I was mean.

Dwight Howard's scouting report was exactly the same. So lets not jump to conclusions saying anyone with a similar scouting report to Sene is going to be a bust. He had very similar strengths and weaknesses. Look at Biyombo for what he is. Rather than your preconceived opinion about athletic african big men.

Sene was more than three inches taller and his wingspan was one inch longer than BB. You make no sense.
If you think Biyombo and Evans are comparable in any respect then I'm pretty sure I'm going to fail at explaining to you why Biyombo is not comparable to Sene.

Some of you are grasping at straws.

Biyombo to Evans? Ummm no, completely different.

Biyombo to Sene? Ummm no, that's like comparing Zach Randolf to Pau Gasol. Sene was soft and finesse.

Biyombo to Ibaka I think is the best comparison I've seen. Limited (yet developing) offensive game. Very physical and aggressive shotblocker who would immediately improve our interior defense and rebounding.

In this crappy draft, I'd take Biyombo at 6. You should always swing for the fences for talented bigmen. We can find guards in nearly every draft. You cannot find good bigs. Just look @ Favors for crying out loud. We literally traded our franchise player, all star, and gold metalist, for a few lotto picks and the hope that Favors develops into an all-star.

Might as well try and make that trade count for something. Draft Biyombo(or the best big available)

Whiteside, Thabeet, etc were never known for their aggressiveness. They were also known for their lack of coordination and poor quickness and no strength. They were also expected to be projects. Just because Thabeet and Whiteside aren't Shaq right now doesn't mean they were disasters. We'll see what happens here in 5 years. I never thought I'd see Dwight Howard dominate the way he is today. Yet he is. KOC and Jazz Nation is hoping that Favors develops into a Dwight Howard like player. Otherwise, that trade we just pulled looks pretty damn bad.

I think some of you need to also consider his education. Biyombo speaks English well and is very well educated. Communication (or inability to communicate) can really bite you in the ***. Just ask AK47 who would often struggle to understand and run the plays Deron called out.

I would take him with our second pick. You never know I would have taken Ibaka and also Sene. Ibaka is doing great while Sene is struggling. That might be due to how OKC utilized them. Biyombo looks good on the defensive end which we need. But, we can't just keep taking 4s, and 5s.

Unless

SF Evans
PF Favors

I know he has arms that go forever, but do we really want a center that is under 6'8". And more important, do we want Boler and Harp yelling "Go Go Gadget Arms" for the next three years.

Excellent point.

Lets also avoid all athletes that played football too. Harp would probably remind us every game on how tough it is to play football.

Seriously though, I doubt he could play a ton at center. And I haven't found Ibaka's exact measurements. But I've read that Ibaka was only 6'8" without shoes. So Ibaka might only be one inch taller than Biyombo. Yet Biyombo might have a greater wingspan.

As this draft progresses, Biyombo might rise or fall. I for one beleive we should swing for the fences and try and get us a wing or big man. I'm not at all a fan of drafting a point in the lottery unless it's someone like Drose.

If Biyombo is the answer, I'm not at all sure.

But comparing him to Evans is complete lunacy.
Comparing him to Sene isn't very good.

Comparing him to Ibaka is. And I don't think we can have too many Ibaka's. Dude is an animal. Last I checked, our interior defense and rebounding was still pretty weak.

He's already measured in at 6'9" and has a standing reach of 9'3"....that reach is better than quite a few of the centers in the league that start. And lets not forget that he is only 18 so there is still some potential that he could get taller. Not saying he will, but he definitely could. With his reach, athleticism and aggressiveness he can play center.

I heard Horny say on the radio that Evans is a very good shooter and beats Hayward in many three-point contest. I think his real position is at SF. I think he can gain weight/strength and he could be a good bench player...as long as Portland doesn't offer him 5 years 85 million dollars.

Agree. Whilst I don't believe Evans has starting potential, there's no reason he can't become a very good bench player. Corbin used him more as the season wound down and he played pretty well for a rookie.

Go back in this thread and read their scouting reports, their games are very similar and they are the same height with a huge wingspan, differences are that BB is stronger and Evans hops. They have tons in common, but the point of thread was they are both projects with huge upside, so the jazz shouldn't have two of those type of players on the roster.

243 lbs at his age and likely without a proper strength-training regimine to date is nothing to shake a stick at. Also, shorter legs are more powerful due to less leverage, at least defensively. Saying Biyombo will be Ben Wallace is a bit star-eyed, but we've seen short centers completely dominate the league before. And again, you don't rebound or block shots with your head. And again, reach doesn't age. We're looking at a rich man's Elton Brand body right NOW (he might even grow more, but he's already longer and more athletic).

And there is a vast difference between being of good character/coachable and being aggressive and a leader. Neither Evans nor Sene have that. If what's told of Biyombo is true about those things, he will at the very least have a spot in the league for a long time. To me, that is far more worth the roll of the dice than to hope that Brandon Knight learns how to shoot smart shots and look for teammates first.
