Does Burks deserve to be a starter yet?

What I can tell from all this data is that starting seems to help a player get more minutes on this current team.

I hate to say this fish but actually Burks is getting more minutes than RJ in 34 games and an initial situation(all three player available, RJ and Gordon as starters and Alec of the bench).

Burks - Hayward - RJ comparison(34 games):
Burks: 27,6 MIN
Hayward: 36,3 MIN
RJ: 26,3 MIN

But it actually should be more clear than that. And it is a little odd that Burks minutes went down in the last 10 games [with an initial situation(all three player available, RJ and Gordon as starters and Alec of the bench)].

Burks - Hayward - RJ comparison(last 10 games):
Burks: 26,8 MIN
Hayward: 35,7 MIN
RJ: 27,4 MIN

And starting Randy Foye 72 times in front of Alec Burks last season was part of this "perfect pace"

The same Randy Foye who was ****ing humiliated last night by Burks....No, what I would call perfect is Burks' coming out party came against the same scrub Corbin insisted on playing in front of him in last year's abortion of a season.

Message received Coach Ty?

you think crobain finally got the message?

I'd leave Burks in the second unit. He can build his confidence better that way. But I think it's absurd he doesn't average 30 plus. I'm always mystified when Burks plays 24 minutes while Hayward ALWAYS gets 37 even if he's shooting 4-14 which he often does.

The simple answer is that - "Yes, Burks is ready to be a starter."

The ONLY way that this happens is if the team trades Gordon Hayward (not my favorite option because I still have a lot of faith in him being a key player for the Jazz) or if Hayward slides over to the SF position while Burks plays shooting guard. Right now, they play the same position. . . so something would have to give. Personally, the way that Gordon Hayward has played this season, I think that moving him over would strengthen two positions. He's a huge upgrade over Richard Jefferson and when given opportunities, Burks has played up to the same level (or higher) that Hayward has at shooting guard.

His confidence didn't seem to be lacking against Denver. I think that it's high time that they turn the young guys loose and live or die with the results. I have a feeling that those results would make all of us Jazz fans feel a whole lot better about the future, even if the tankers (myself included) would have to watch the tank shrivel up and die.

We can analyze and project and spout numbers and predict how they would work out if they were all out there together. . . but the plain and simple fact is that we simply will never know unless Ty finally comes to the conclusion (on his own or by instruction of Lindsey) that they should all be playing together and getting the majority of the minutes.

I would love to see how hayward does at small forward. (that is the position he was thought to play during his draft) Jefferson is not much (if any) bigger than hayward and he plays small forward.
This was supposed to be the season of experimentation/evaluation and i would love to see the core 5 starting together for a nice chunk of games just to see what would happen.
we know that will never happen with corbin as the coach.... not saying it would happen with different coach either, but with a different coach there would at least be a chance.

I like Jefferson's 3 point-shooting in the starting lineup. Burks can shoot the three but that's not his main weapon. He needs the ball more and Trey and Gordon will dominate it.

This is true and i agree, but we have no idea what would happen with trey, alec, gordon, derrick, enes starting together.
Maybe you would like that even more!.... no way to find out though :(

Love the way he's playing, but he does provide a necessary punch off the bench. AND he will get the ball more in the 2nd unit, when he's not playing with G-Hay.

18/6/6 on 45% shooting is inefficient?

Those are his last 10 games btw. If you'd like to go further back, he's shooting 44.6% for the months of December and January. I'd hardly consider that inefficient.

He has been using a possession below the league average. Last year he was way above league average.
