This part is my guess reading the tea leaves. If GS puts Podz+Moody and all teh picks that will get the deal done (if we want to do a deal). They may be blowing smoke on Kuminga and that is actually the guy they want. May also be trying to leverage the Spurs... Zach mentioned Vassell as the potential holdup there.

I tend to agree, there's deal with and without Kuminga. IIRC, there were some days that Barrett was really important, and then the next day he was not our target. We won't know unless a trade happens.

GSW should be desperate btw.....In this two timelines thing, Lauri is the perfect fit. He is good enough to put Steph into title contention, and in a theoretical next stage for the Warriors built around Kuminga, Lauri is also also perfect for that.

For me, Vassell is not a must have like Kuminga is. They can make it work with picks.

Look no matter what you think of Kuminga I do not get the impression from this and Tony that he is a deal breaker or a substitute. I think they like Podz better. Tony mentioned the contract negotiations on his new deal when he mentioned it. I think the priority is Picks, Podz, Kuminga, anything else.

GS desperation likely depends on if they believe they are a contender or fringe contender with Steph and Lauri. If not I can see them being a frisky back half of the playoff team and waiting it out until the wheels fall off with Steph.

Fine with me, Kuminga was never a deal breaker for me. If you're not getting Kuminga, you better be getting Podz+Moody though.

I also actually think GS would likely want to include Kuminga if it can substitute for Podz and picks. Just the fit of their current roster... with Dray it creates issues with Kuminga as a starter. Unless they go to Dray at the 5 the spacing is bad. Dray as a full time center has some issues as well.

I find Kuminga intriguing, but Moody+Podz would probably be my preferred if you had to choose one or the other. Moody is probably the best value versus what his cost in substituted picks would be. It's not clear how much PT there is for him with the additions they made. Like Pelton said, Moody would be one of the guys I'd be targeting most in the league.

Good second paragraph there. You are right, they should be desperate.

What happens to them salary tax wise if we traded them Lauri and take back moody and podz? Neither of those guys make much do they? Would that make the warriors salary tax hell even worse than it is already?

Also, what is the alternative? Who else is available? Ingram?

All things equal I’d rather have Kuminga but if he comes with less picks I’d rather have the Podz side.
