Avdija is not clearly a better player. Kuminga was great last season on winning team. His EPM, BPM, and LEBRON were all higher. His base stats were better. Beyond that, Kuminga is a player that demonstrates some star qualities and things that cannot be taught. The conversation around him is the extent to which GSW is limiting him and there’s a reason for that. He’s already been a good player but can be more in an expanded role.

The idea that Avidja is just significantly easier to fit rests on his ability to shoot. Neither is the most inspiring shooter with both taking low volume of 3’s. Avdija did shoot better last season, but it’s not like 37% of 3 attempts a game is incredible and over the past two seasons combined (and their careers) Kuminga shoots a higher percentage.
He scores more... Deni gets more rebounds, assists, is a better defender, and has way more potential as a shooter. Being very functional in a garbage environment. I think its more likely JK benefits more from who he plays with more than it holds him back.

It's 8am in Finland. Haven't slept. Now I'll go to sleep

I'll leave my prediction here about the landing spot and the haul:

[To be filled after the trade goes through some time in the future, so I can point out how right I was]

Good night.

Good night and thank you for your services to god and country.

Just woke up, so I will carry the torch.

Do what it takes to make it right with WAS for the '30 FRP.

Kuminga
Payton
29 unprotected
31 unprotected

This is what I would want from GSW. If they want to add in Wiggins, they owe us more. IMO, this deal is right about the Bridges deal/slightly under. That seems about right for Lauri.
This would be a fiasco IMHO.

To each their own. I don’t think Deni is necessarily a better defender or a more promising shooter. Overall, numbers clearly point to Kuminga as a better player right now. Numbers dont mean everything, but I still don’t find a case for Avdija being “certainly better”.

And again, it’s not all about who will win you a game tomorrow. Being a star player typically means being a higher usage scorer. Kuminga is closer to that and of that mold. He’s proven himself in a smaller role and has shown plenty of potential to do more.

I truly do not care to discuss this anymore because this was never the point. It’s clear you don’t like Kuminga and obviously there’s no changing that. A better way to solve this would be to ask neutral parties. If you care enough to do that, go for it. I do not. If I’m wrong and everyone things Avdija is clearly a better asset than Kuminga, I’ll accept it.

Hope you're right. I just think we've been set up for some amazing return and I doubt it will quite live up to the promise.

The expectation from some here is as if we’re trading Luka. We’re not getting that.

I wonder if Golden State would be interested in doing two simultaneous deals where they trade for Lauri and then absorb Clarkson into their new TPE.

I tried working it out where they get both in the same trade and sending out Payton, Looney, and Kuminga is about 100k or so short of working. Add in Moody and it works.

I think GSW would try hard to go the other direction and dump Wiggins onto us while taking no future salary back. They could be set up to have some cap space the following season if they are able to to dump Wiggins. It wouldn't be max, but it would be something. Dumping Wiggins would have to cost a significant amount IMO.
