Donovan Mitchell: Steal of the Draft?

DANTE EXUM was lambasted by some morons here because he shot less than 30% from 3 point range.
Guess what, Mitchell is shooting with 25% fg% and 16% 3pts.

how old was Exum ....19 yrs old and 21 yrs old ,isn't Mitchell 21 yrs old

Cuz Dante's shot looked painful.

Don's looks good. It's going to go in.

I don't mind Mitchell shooting the ball. We are obviously nowhere near a competitive team, we may as well give him some time and practice to get his form down, learn to play in the flow of the game, and learn to shoot with an NBA player's hand directly in his face (not just someone maybe rushing at him like he probably saw in college). That all will take time and repetition. Let him get his confidence up. Why not? What exactly will be accomplished not letting him play? But he needs to split time with Alec too, so we see what Alec has, but also so we can showcase Alec for possible trades down the road.

There is nothing wrong with Mitchell's shooting mechanics. Shot selection and amount of shots is different story.

For the record, I've always thought the bleary-eyed rhetoric about Mitchell around here has been absurd, but it bears mentioning that Hayward also had a negative PER for a number of months to start his NBA career. He was a god-awful player who also wasn't passing the eye test.

This.

I think the premature addolations were thrust upon Mitchell because he's the "rebound." We loved Hayward, he dumped us, and now we're "dating" Mitchell. We don't know how much we truly like him yet but that's not the point. We're dating him and we have to say we like him so the world knows we're over Hayward.

It's sort of pathetic really. It reeks of the inferiority complex for which Jazz fans are known. That's not to say other fanbases wouldn't be doing the same thing but it certainly doesn't help our image.

Obsessors gotta obsess.

How much of Don's struggles are just the Jazz being the worst offensive team? It'd be different if he was assimilating into an established and efficient offense.

Mitchell is going to be fine. His speed translates, he can get where he wants on the court, he can make some reads and pass the ball, his shot looks good (though for some reason he's shooting long consistently). He'll figure it out. He needs to work on his floater game, and pick his spots to shoot jumpers. The shots will start falling.

Small sample size, but Rodney Hood in his last 2 games is averaging 21 pts on 14/28 shooting (50%), with 5/12 from 3-pt. (41.7%), 3 assists and 9/9 on FTs. He does look a little stronger and more confident this year (so far).
