In a mass-shooting scenario, whatever law enforcement is on site or can be scrambled, will have weapons drawn. It's pretty suicidal. I'm surprised that the shooters in El Paso weren't taken out, to be honest.

Does anyone have info on how he was caught?

Despite statements in his manifesto that might indicate otherwise, he offered no resistance at all....

The white myth needs to be destroyed. We do this by abandoning it ourselves, and by laying hold on regional European identifiers to cultivate relatable identities.

Stop calling people white. They are not. There is no white race.

Get a DNA test if you have to start somewhere. Do some family history. We need to obliterate what we’ve become by digging back into what we were when our families arrived here.

I'm sorry, but I just don't think this is really the answer. Black people in America literally had their heritage stolen from them, and I don't see them terrorizing America out of a lack of "authentic identity."

I mean, in some ways I agree with what you are saying, race is absolutely a construct with no basis in scientific fact. What it means to be white or black has fluctuated throughout our history depending on the needs and prejudices of the status quo.

But going back to European roots and trying to gain an identity based on where your ancestors game from is kind of a pointless exercise imo, and maybe even counter productive.

I think additionally, with gun control, we need to disrupt white supremacist social media. Disrupting the distribution of their propaganda, destroying their online communities, and banning their leaders from public spheres is essential. 4chan and 8chan should be gone and Breitbart, Fox News, dailycaller, the blaze, and Drudge should be heavily monitored.

I did a dna test. I'm 67% Scandinavian, 32% British, 1% from the Balkans. If white exists I'm about as white as you can get.

That statement flies here in the States. But what would they say about it in England or Bosnia?

The truth is that everything your DNA test revealed represents a rich culture and complex history. That identity is far more authentic than anything cultivated from the idea of “whiteness”.

No, we actually agree on that. I just disagree that the solution is an identity formed around one's European ancestry. I'd hazard a guess that white supremacists are more likely to identify more closely to their "Irish" or "German" heritage than the average white person would. We need fewer boundaries between us, not more.

To that I would say that diversity is a strength. It should not be treated as a disability. Identifying all European people as “the same” is a problem, and part of the problem it creates is that others other groups unnecessarily.

You are saying that if you take away any weapon, this will not reduce murder rates because murderers will kill the same number of people with a different weapon

In other words, restricting any weapon has zero effect on deaths.

So from this one would deduce that a world where everyone has full access to automatic military style machine guns is not less safe than the world where they are fully banned.
