Israel 2007. I have honestly no idea what's happening in this song. There is no discernible genre. A man with an accordion is present and looks like he also ate an accordion. It might be a protest song against nuclear weapons? Eurovision.

In reading up on the topic a little bit, it sounds like Turkey is also mad at Eurovision for being a little too gay friendly. Well.....Eurovision is certainly guilty of that.

I remember when Sertab won. That song then was quite popular in Lithuania and was on a radio regularly.

Hey man do you know the guy who composed all that for Sertap Erener and also was (maybe is still) her lover? Demir Demirkan. Check out the dude's guitar solos in the album called Trail Blazer by the Turkish heavy metal band named Pentagram. Kicks major ***.

Alas, it's on at noon in this time zone. This is why for the Eurovision Party, we compress the whole event into one day with all three shows.

The wrinkle this year is that Eurovision isn't immediately putting the full broadcast up on Youtube because Logo bought the broadcast rights. Working on a workaround involving casting the eurovision page itself to the TV.

Quick question Tink-- why should one follow Eurovision? Why are you/how did you get into it?

The only ppl I know who follow it are either my parents' Albanian friends, and my gay friends. Srsly. I'll join in if there's reason to.

I'll spare you the story. Wear weird outfit, sing the songs that are composed with the intention to sound like something different but end up being the same Euro crap, perform a totally Eurovision style coreography, and bash the competition for being political as you don't receive enough votes. That's about it.
 
I like the voting process the most:)

So far this semifinal is meh.... nothing really stood out. Maybe Ireland?
