What's new

Game Thread Feb 25, 2023 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Spurs

Lauri had just 7 points at halftime and it looked like he was on his way to having one of his worst games in a Jazz uniform...he ended up with 27 points on just 17 shots, including 14 points in the 4th quarter. He's a special player.

So Dunn can play? Shocker. It’s just too bad that a guy like him wasn’t just hanging around last year when our team was composed of the worst perimeter defenders in league history.

I had to watch with the volume off and half paying attention to some “guests” we had but kept thinking as Dunn did good things that you must be furious.

The Jazz thought Miye Oni was the solution to historically bad perimeter defense and Rudy Gay the next year. Literally wasted Mitchell-Gobert due to inaction.

Also… lol… like you knew better than professionals who are paid money to do a job… lol.

Put a lot of development time into guys like Oni and Forrest when they should have been out hunting for something better. But when you put yourself in the tax to overpay backup centers it gets pretty pricey to churn the roster. The last few years of DLs tenure were sloppy AF.

If I’m being honest, I don’t even think Oni and Forrest were that bad for what they were. Both had moments where they filled into the rotation and things went smoothly, or as smoothly as you could expect by subbing in an undrafted/super late second rounder. I don’t necessarily disagree that we could have used those roster spots/development time on others….but the perimeter defense problem was never a 14/15/16th man problem. Maybe you find Caruso and he becomes part of your main rotation, but the Jazz should have invested more into the blatant issues than end of roster spots. Their starting/final lineups were getting their **** kicked in and they needed a real change in their main lineups.

Dunn is having a calming effect. Been great in the first 2 games. I did notice he is a bit hesitant on his threes. Made one that was smooth and confident. Bricked one that you could see he was hesitant, then passed upnone he knew he should have taken, but didnt have the confidence. Something to keep an eye on.

Lauri needs to find his outside shot before it goes inside his head too much. i have noticed hesitation few times to launch it and his shot form seems stiffer now after weeks of cold stretch.
When did he hesitate?? You’re off your meds again I see.
He's still young too. Give me some more Dunn.
Damn, when I read that I thought what is that idiot thinking. Lol I thought for sure he was in his early to mid 30’s. Eg on my idiot face. Didn’t realize he was that young.
If he works on his shot creation he could be our Allan Houston. He kinda has his shooting form.
He reminds me a bit of the same style as Klay. Has potential to be very elite shooter.
we fleeced them :)
No we didn’t, we have more class tan that we bent them over!!

DM’s first few years he used to do that all the time and Markkanen has been doing this a bit. Earlier in the year he was getting to fast starts then would score 6 points in the second half. I remember I criticized him for it. He’s been money the last month in the second half. I could care less the start he has but as an allstar you need to finish strong and he has been.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there, did it make a sound? This is that example. We could say he never would have been good then because we didn’t have him. But now he’s good because we can actually see it and we had the genius to bring him in.
