Game Of Thrones

HBO owns the rights! Come on OL. They can make 100 seasons if they want to.

... ... ...

HBO owns the show rights. Not GRRM. If they could continue it for as long as they wanted. They decided to end it.

Edit: GF beat me to it.

OK I did now know that. I thought it was like how JK Rowling owns the rights to Harry Potter and once the 7 books are finished, that's it, no more movies can be made.

But if you guys are right and they can make 100 more seasons, and it's still clearly commercially viable to do so, why don't they?

Because they want the show to be good.

Read the article I linked.

GRRM is already expanding Asoiaf via Dunk&Egg and other stories. We could see them on screen but theee is a time when a show hit the sharks and it is better to end it before.

I think it would be cool if they did a spinoff/prequel following the whole story of robert's rebellion. But I wonder if the show would still be as good without the unpredictability it has now.

I agree with King Cy though, as hard as it is for us viewers to accept sometimes, it is best for a show to come to it's natural conclusion, even it if it still as wildly popular as GoT.

I wouldn't mind a spin-off, but I want the current story to have a clear end.

The key to a great spinoff is to do it with a character that you don't know a lot about. Like Frasier or Better Call Saul. We knew Frasier...but not really. The writers then had the freedom to create a whole new world. Same with Better Call Saul. Even though we know the end, we know so little about Saul Goodman that his spinoff is great.

Who could you do from GOT? The Hound would be a great one. We don't know a lot about him.

I don't think you could do a Stark or Lannister. Maybe King Slayer...Jaime.

Who else?

There are tons of spin off options.

Khal Drogo
The Nights Watch
Robert's Rebellion
The war that united the 7 kingdoms
Jamie's right hand man (can't remember his name)
Dorn
Lady Tyrell
