What's new

Gordon Hayward shooting 27% in the last 10 games.

He's basically Kirilenko without the length. He can fill up a stat sheet, but he's not your primary scorer.

Makes me wonder about his home life with his fiancé. That decision made me instantly question Gordon.

Right now his shot is as ugly as it has ever looked. Every FGA he seems to do something different wrong. Not squared up, rushes his shot, off balance....almost every shot looks bad coming out of his hand.

The one 3-pointer he happened to make last night may have been his ugliest shot of the night.

If Gordo can't find his shot, he's not worth keeping. No shot + no ability to finish + no ability to defend quick or strong wing players... What's the point? High BBIQ (although the 20-foot pull-ups and freezing out of the bigs even brings this into question), low skills. If he's going to command $10mm+ this summer, and you can get something decent for him now, you have to move him. He's been terrible.

We said we'd learn a lot about the young guns this year. I don't think even an Alec Burks homer like myself saw Alec overtaking Gordon.

Gordon really is a perfect 6th man off the bench well rounded support player. Nothing more, nothing less.

I heard a radio interview a few years ago from this years coach of the year in Phoenix. He said Gordon has a loose jump shot and he worked with him on tightening his shoot closer to his head. If you look at his shooting form now, his release point is way above his head and it's hard to be consistent that way. He also throws his head back when he shoots. When your eye balls are moving, it makes it harder to focus on the rim. Also, his step-back jumper can be timed with a sun dial. It is horrible. Last night, his first shot of the game was a step-back fade-a-away. Drew nothing but air.

I don't think Gordon would take a move to the bench very well, he has high expectations for himself. What a relief he didn't take the offer the jazz gave him.

Do we even have anyone on staff right now that can actually coach these guys on their shooting mechanics? We should have hired Jeff as HC while we had the chance. Hayward has looked so bad lately. I used to think he was an AK who could shoot. Now, like someone else said, he's AK without the length, and he's not as good a defender.

C'mon. All this means is Gordon is in on the tank. Lindsey told him the best way to help the team was to shoot poorly. There is simply no other explanation for his 3-17 games.

I've always thought his 3-point shot was ugly, even when it was going in. He looks like he just throws the ball up sometimes and there is way too much motion in his shot.

I remember hearing a Horny interview when he said Hayward has a tendency to jolt his head back on his shots which causes them to be off target, he for sure does.

and not have his feet set.

That's not it so much. Hayward would be fine if he was making the shots he has been making the last 3 years. ESPN said that last night 9 of the shots Hayward missed were uncontested.

Actually makes me happier. Dude is just in a rut.

Well...

It would help if he ever tried to develop a post game or get closer for an easier jump shot.

Instead, he plays like Korver and constantly chucks up forced jumper after jumper. If he continues to miss he then moves further away to chuck. He still has yet to learn that dunks are easier than 35 foot fadeaway bombs.

And how the hell does he not have a post game?

I question Andrei Hayward's work ethic just like the original Gordon Kirlenko. Both seem obsessed with video games and enjoy the life of being a celebrity. Neither seem very committed to working their asses off and actually develop a game. Hayward is exactly the same player he was 4 years ago... Just chucking and missing more with the occasional fast break dunk.

^this^

In 4 more years Hayward won't be noticeably different than he is this year. Similar stats (lesser PPG, likely) and percentages.
