Zach Lowe mentioned a bunch of possible trades for Simmons :)
I have wondered a little over the past year whether Simmons and Mitchell switching teams would make either team better. (He did mention a direct swap)

Simmons + Shamet for Mitchell + Rubio (salaries wouldn't work but yet get me).

I know 95% of you would never consider such a trade - just curious about how the two would go in different environments.

I bet most of you think Philly wins that trade. And Mitchell's fit with Embiid and Butler is pretty sweet.

(But it would be a secret dream of mine to see Simmons in a Jazz uni :) )

Simmons, Shamet, Ingles, Jae, Gobert would be pretty sick (good).

Just what we need, a PG who can't shoot.

Warning: Jazzfanz trade analyzer will not compute!

I don't think Simmons makes sense for the Jazz from a basketball perspective since we generally play around league average or below in pace, Simmons' inability to shoot means he can't run a PnR in late game situations, and his lack of shooting would be even more magnified with the Jazz in Simmons/Favors/Gobert lineups. Mitchell for Butler is a more interesting hypothetical deal from a basketball perspective but then you've got all the extra curricular garbage with Butler that few teams want to deal with even if he's an all star talent, whereas Mitchell is fantastic for the community and the Jazz from a PR angle so you'd take him going forward over Butler any day.

The team that trades for Simmons should be a team that is willing to stick 4 shooters around Simmons and go from there, or 3 shooters and a rim runner. The Jazz aren't really that team.

Isn't that the exact team the Jazz would put around a guy like Simmons?

You cant run a pick and roll with Simmons and Gobert. The defenders would just give them all the space in the world. Neither of them is a threat outside the paint. Rubio is at least somewhat of a threat to shoot from 3 and mid range and we are already seeing problems with that.

Simmons would be an upgrade on defense over Rubio and in the open court. But he would be a downgrade from Rubio in half court sets, especially come playoff time.
