This is an interesting idea. Might turnout to be true given their different shooting pedigrees.

But I do think we are seeing Simmons' floor atm. But ceilings are sometimes not worth risking much for.
Mitchell to me in some way is the 'safer' bet on being able to significantly contribute to a playoff team.

    There are rumblings.

You do realize Simmons won't like playing second or third fiddle longterm - epecially if it means he is being forced off ball for long periods and not being used in the post.

Ben Golliver and others have hypothesised that Simmons' team will not let his value drop and could get out.

Ben Simmons might take his QO and then the Sixers are kind of stuffed in terms of getting back equal value.

    Excellent post.

I do think the ideal guys for someone like Simmons - Simmons/Cov/Tatum/Middleton/Lopez

Mitchell on the other hand seamlessly fits into almost any lineup.

So is all this since the Butler trade? All I heard was positive and ‘Sixers this’ and ‘Sixers that,’ but now I hear word of Embiid not happy with his role and other issues. What gives, aside from JB?

Mitchell - loves being here, killer talent, aggressive, PR savy, future star, insane ceiling, sometimes ineffeint.

Simmons - another killer talent, great rebounding and assisting, less aggressive, can’t/won’t shoot Js/3s to save his life.

In the context of the Jazz having Gobert, Favors and Rubio on the team any trade that hurts shooting is a no go. Unless it nets us LeBron.

    Come on

Also **** this stupid at ****

Stifle Tower and Spida to the 19/20 championship

Lindsay kicks *** and Snyder is a killer. But Lindsay needs a memeber of his staff that is ruthless. Just predatory in nature. A trusted voice in his inner circle that wants blood on the court. Something to make him a little more aggressive with trades and talent chasing.

Well, Ainge’s son lost his congressional bid, so...

But if you’re really looking for someone predatory in nature, may want to poach from Dallas.

No way 76ers agree to the trade

Ultimately I agree, but they would think about it. 76ers would definitely be better in the playoffs with Mitchell instead of Simmons. Jazz would fall down laughing if they got this trade offer.

Yep. Butler wants more pnr action and many Philly fans think Brett Brown is covering for Simmons and protecting his role at the expense of Embiid and Butler.

Overall it is just a question of fit. Three ball dominant (not great shooting) dudes with no bench.

Been some apparent frustration that Lowe hints at in that artcile. Ben has found he likes posting up when off ball - and Embiid doesn't necessarily love that.

Agree, why would the 76ers trade for a one dimensional, inefficient chucker for Ben ~ who offers efficient scoring + great rebounding, assisting and great defense? The 76ers would be very stupid to make a trade like this.

Lowe is off target on this one, they would never trade Simmons.

    Are you serious?
    I don't get your tone.

Why do you think its sweet to talk trash about Mitchell like that on here? You either can't read a room - or are simply a troll. I don't like labelling anyone - but what is that mate...

76ers would strongly consider that trade - cause atm what they would love more than anything is a bit more space for Embiid and Butler to operate. Ben's efficient scoring is a barrier atm. The type of shots he gets makes him more readily guardable and predictable. Obviously I think he is amazing and has a chance to be great, but I would never make the statements you are.

Mitchell would fit really well with Embiid and Butler. I think if the Sixers knew that Embiid was going to be injury free for the next 5-6 years - they would seriously, seriously consider it.

I think there is also a chance, that ultimately they will choose Simmons to build around.

He has always been much lower on Simmons than some.
I think Simmons is polarising that way.

Nate Duncan thinks Simmons is good etc, Danny Leroux (his running mate) seemingly thinks that Simmons could be the best in the future. I think Zach is more in the Nate Duncan mould.

If I was a NOLA fan I'd want Simmons before Tatum or any of the Lakers young guys if AD decides he wants out as he's a jumpshot away from being a perennial all star, and Gentry's system would be about as good as it gets for maximising Simmons' strengths. Plus the LSU factor would be good too, might be able to fill a few more seats with that. They'd in all likelyhood probably be able to snatch Fultz and Zhaire Smith as well in a deal like that and shed some salary to potentially add another high quality wing, they could potentially sign another good 3pt shooting wing like Bogdanovic, Green, M.Morris, etc, and re-sign Mirotic to have a team that could potentially feature Jrue/Moore/one of those FAs/Mirotic/Simmons and just go balls to the wall every time down the court.

I don't really understand the deal from Philly's perspective though. Like, the entire premise around trading Simmons for something is because he doesn't really fit well with Embiid and Butler on the court together, so you go and trade for another guy that probably wouldn't fit all that well with Embiid and Butler? I get he's an All NBA talent but I think after the Cousins/AD experiment teams learned that AD is at his best at C and the Sixers already have an elite C in Embiid.

The 76ers priority should be Simmons not Embiid or Butler.

That doesn't make me feel so bad... (Considering it's less than two weeks old :) )

Unless of course you are still hungover from NYE and stuck in 2018??
