Sometimes people actually go out of their way to be offended. It's sad, really. I mean, I totally get why "tranny" can be offensive, but saying the word "transgenders" is offensive now? Come on human being of all kinds, give me a break.

Celebrate diversity, eliminate discrimination, and come together as Americans!

But even that could be offensive under Katie's definition. An American is only part of who I am. I don't get this stuff.

He's already received a warning in this thread for inappropriate, insulting, and demeaning content. He's continuing down the same line of thought that got him the warning. I'm not exactly way out on a limb.

This board's culture is so frequently socially regressive that I'm ashamed to be a part of it. But hey, I'm glad that every few months we can reliably have a "pick on transgendered persons" thread while the usual suspects rally around and argue that they have a legitimate opinion.

I just read an article in the SL Trib about some horrible guy who beat the **** out of a gay man and shoved a ****ing tire iron up the dude's ***, puncturing his liver, and eventually beating him to death.


Let's not do this sort of thing anymore, mmkay? You may not understand LGBTQ lifestyles, but what happens between consenting adults that doesn't hurt anyone else is nunya bidness.

I agree. I just don't see how other people who are seeking 'Appearance Congruence' (what a great term i invented, pat pat) are demeaning to others doing the same? I was seeking information and pointing out a disconnect I saw. Is discussion really so evil? I can't discuss my hesitations about Kanter or ask questions about transsexuals?

Trannie has the connotation of a male hooker dressed as a female, if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure the word all together has a different intended meaning than transexual/transgender. I guess if you put it in context, calling a transgender/transexual person a trannie would be the social equivalent of calling a female a "whore". And like the term "whore" you don't just want to throw it around willy-nilly, probably want to save that one for a rainy day. Really cuts deep.

It's kind of like this. Very little people have a problem that LeBron signed with a different team being a free agent, but people have a problem with, "The Decision". It's the way people use stupid theatrics that get under other people's skin.
