Yeah, it's our first kid. My wife said no to Archie.
Any name suggestions?
Latrell. Latrell McKell. That ****'s gotta ring to it. Badass.

Congrats Mikey. Every daddy deserves a son.
I like more traditional names, rather than cute or trendy names. I personally think a name that is or can be shortened to 4 letters or one syllable is strong and masculine, if that matters to you. Consequently, both of my sons have 2-syllable names that cannot be easily shortened. So you can tell that mothers have a strong influence on baby names.![]()
Archie-
You could name it after your late brother. Just an idea. Not sure how you feel about that. I don't think I would for my brother. Maybe as a middle name but a first name is doubtful. I also like Octavius. A kid from HS (years before me) was Octavius. Octavius Gould. Sick RB. He went to the University of Florida and was a frosh rb the same time as...um..Emmitt Smith...sucked for him so he later transferred.
I basically made this exact same thread approximately 5 years ago when I was having problems finding a job while in law school. Things do get better even though they are depressing right now.
The best advice I can give having gone through this experience is to be totally openminded about the opportunities that present themselves even if they're not the opportunities that you wanted. My law school roommate really wanted to live in Charlotte after graduation and didn't get a job there, eventually moving to Milwaukee. Blessing in disguise as the Charlotte legal community promptly imploded and everyone we knew who lives there got laid off. I had no intentions of going to Northern California but my first choice law firm in Phoenix has since revealed itself to be something of a cesspool that I would not have survived in. The point of this is that sometimes the options that are handed to you are better than the ones you would have chosen for yourself.
Life will never be perfect but all indications are that you have some nice support structure and family money. This too shall pass and you're in a better position to ride it out than many of your peers. Be thankful for what you have and eagerly accept the next thing that you get.
Good luck, and congratulations on your child.
