My contacts within the training staff (not GB that fat ***) tell me Trevor Booker shows up angry and in shape like a mafia fool. KGB bros.
He's pissed nobody gave him 4/32+ deal. More pissed at Washington.
Said hes going to tear out throats when they visit D.C.

My friends, they are certain Booker will start over Kanter because he is more hungry. They say Kanter is bye bye.
 
Kanter has the ability, under the right coach to play extremely well.
Corbin is a joke for a teacher. Snyder needs to erase most of Ty's mistakes. Kanter is a hard worker I believe he will impress most of you next season.
He needs to just tweak his defense to make him viable. If Quinn can teach him the correct position to be in. And to use his strength he will be a stud.

With Kanter it's mostly mental. The guy is in great shape and has talent and can dominate physically at PF.

If the game slows down for him he will be much better.

I think this will be a huge year for Kanter & Burks (from a 'will they legit or not' standpoint) - we'll see what they're truly made of.

Booker is more hungry ,lol ,should have showed it to Washington then so they would have kept him. Chances are they viewed him as undersized for being a starting PF and money for a backup was an issue.
Kanter is bigger and stronger and still getting stronger.Look at Gobert ,look at Hayward they've gotten stronger.Look for similar from Burks and Favors.The kids are growing up and getting stronger and tougher .I'd take Kanter's height and strength over Booker .Last thing Utah needs is an under sized Center and a under size PF starting.
 
Random thought: maybe Booker will make Kanter tougher. If they're playing against one another in practice and Booker is playing aggressive & physical, perhaps it will help Kanter?
 
Happy with Trevor Booker signing, but he is not a replacement for Kanter. He is an undersized energy guy who can set the tone, bit can't necessarily hold down the fort. New mid range jumper was a nice addition to his game, and his PnR defense is good, but he is so far from being a starting PF in the west.

Glad he is angry, though. That is great.
 
Both Booker and Gobert will be competing with Kanter for minutes (plus Evans and Novak). If Kanter thinks he's entitled to big minutes and a prominent role again, he's going to find himself on the bench a lot. There's a decent chance his minutes go down this season with the added depth and development at the 4/5.

Agreed he'll have to earn his minutes. It is also rumored that Hayward will get some minutes as an agile, playmaking PF.

I don't really see Gobert taking Kanter's minutes though, because he'll back up Favors. Unless Favors has a completely different offensive style, he and Gobert will see very few minutes on the court together.

Novak and Booker will play, as will Gobert, but the Jazz aren't giving up on Kanter and Favors. I don't see the additions as replacements at all, but rather reminders of what is expected/filling of needs. With all the staff changes/additions and emphasis on player develoment, Kanter is still one of our most promising prospects. I believe this staff will work with him so his play will merit the time he gets.

I doubt it. I expect a decent surprise season for Kanter with the return of a bunch of people hanging from his rooster claiming MIPPOTY or talking about maxing him again.

He's an above average shooter inside the arc (and improving). I posted this chart when he was first signed by the Jazz. He's not Kevin Love from 3pt line, but he's a dependable shooter from just about everywhere else.

Kanter played a bunch of minutes at the 5 last season with Evans/Marvin. Gobert could take some of those minutes. If all 48 minutes at the 5 are going to Favors/Gobert, and Booker/Evans/Novak/Hayward are all options at the 4, as opposed to just Evans/Marvin last season, Kanter will have to play a lot better to increase his minutes.

Keep in mind, Kanter was 106th in the NBA in minutes last season (solid starter minutes), playing on a team with less depth. Gobert played only 434 minutes as well. There's no guarantee Kanter plays 2000+ minutes this season, especially if Quin is serious about playing a Spurs/Hawks style, with loads of ball and player movement, and emphasizing (team) defense. At this point, Kanter's a poor man's Al Jefferson, who's pretty much the antithesis of Quin's stated philosophy.

With that in mind, probably little chance Kanter and the front office see eye to eye on an extension this summer.
