Parker wanted to get drafted by the Bucks so he could live close to home in Chicago. He's now on the team that he wanted to be on from the beginning, and he rocked up to training camp out of shape and lost his starting role to Justin Holiday and Bobby Portis. Portis got hurt so he got his chance to start and had the opportunity to show his worth, but he's now completely out of the rotation as he can't play SF and he's a worse player than Bobby Portis, let alone Lauri Markannen.

Absolutely no way the Jazz should deal for him, if you're really desperate to take a flyer on him for some reason you'll be able to pick him up for cheap next offseason. Sad because his career was derailed by two ACL tears, but he's done nothing to show he's worth anywhere near his deal this season.

Ya they tanked. They tanked by the gm intentionally creating a crap roster that couldnt win no matter how badly the coach or any of the players wanted to.
 
The problem with Jabari is not just that he doesn't play good defense. Many young players need seasoning in the league to become even average defenders. The problem is that he's publicly shown distaste for playing defense on the day he signed 20M a year contract. Not only is he bad it, but his attitude about it is rotten from the very start. You just know that you will have to fight him for him to show even slightest of interest in playing defense let alone improving on defense.

BTW for us to get Jabari now we need to guarantee his contract for next year, which means we are punting on high end free agency altogether this coming summer.

His 2nd year has to be guaranteed if he is traded? I don't think that's the case. If we were to trade Favors, the other team wouldn't have to pick up Favors' 2019-20 option if they didn't want to. That's why he is valuable. The same is probably the case for Jabari - take the gamble but you can walk away in the summer if it doesn't work out.

It's the same situation with Mirotic' contract last year. Players on 1 year deals have veto power on trades. For him to not have the veto power the team(Chicago) has to pick up the team option year for next year (which means his contract is no longer 1 year contract thus he cannot veto it). In essence even if Jabari wants to come to Utah he will veto the trade until they guarantee his pay... He will have to want to come to Utah more than want 20M dollars guaranteed for next year for him to not veto that trade until it's guaranteed.

Favors' contract is different - it's not a team option(1 year + 1 year team option) but rather a non-guaranteed second year(it's essentially a 2 year contract... but just the first is guaranteed). This BTW is another credit to DL for structuring the contract like that.

While that’s possible, you’d have to consider that he may want to go to a place where he feels like he can either 1) impress to keep the second year or 2) succeed enough to land a decent deal. His alternative is parking his *** on the bench in Chicago and hitting free agency without any chance to play. So that second year could be collateral when he looks at the overall picture.

He knows Chicago ain’t picking up his second year. There’s no sense in him refusing to go to a place where he’d get a chance just because they won’t pick up the second year. Then again, there was no sense in him doing and saying some of the things he’s done.
