Qualifiers are what makes players and what makes Kispert a good prospect. He's got a combination of size, shooting, and athleticism that isnt common.

When you are giving those franchises great players that kind of changes things.

Donovan in the NYK market is going to be good. He's going to attract another star. Leon Rose has proven himself as a capable GM who can draft well in the later rounds.

In 2027 they are going to have prime Donovan Mitchell and another star.

And like I said, I'd rather have that stuff to and I dont mind waiting. But it might never be there. And if we do get it, I would strongly advocate to actively shopping those picks in the coming years. I would not want to still have the 27/29 Knicks picks after the 2025 NBA season.

Yeah, that seems a lot more plausible than them being a perennial play-in team with no assets, cap space or picks to improve and Donovan walks in the summer of 2025.
 
The Wizards package is more realistic if they could remove the protections on their 2023 1st they owe the Knicks to be able to give us more picks.

Problem with that is I’m not sure why the Knicks do that knowing they’re getting Donovan and the pick will be worse this year than holding onto it for a couple years and getting a potential better pick.

Interesting. Didn't realize that.

I'm still all about the Knicks. The draft capital there is just unbeatable, plus we know they're a garbage franchise.

Stephen A blew his wad today pleading for the trade to happen. Let's hope pressure/momentum is mounting.

He’s gonna be a Joe Harris type on the top end. He isn’t some guy with an amazing upside. He won’t play with the ball in his hand and doesn’t do anything meaningful with his “athleticism”. I’d much rather have Grimes than Kispert and he was taken in the same draft after him.

He isn’t a dime a dozen… but you give me two middle to late firsts and I think I can find something on his level that has potential to be more.

This is a classic thing for a Talking Head to say, as it completely glosses over the fact that the value of "4 firsts" can range wildly depending on which picks, and which protections. I don't think anyone here would sign up for Barrett + 4 heavily protected firsts. I never get why someone in the room doesn't ask a simple follow up question to the Talking Head in this scenario

He said the Knicks are willing to give up 2-3 unprotected picks of their own but we want 4. The middle ground of a Barrett deal is likely 3 unprotected 1sts plus a protected 1st. I would love to get either the 2023 Dallas 1st or 2025 Milwaukee 1st.

I'd take that deal... assuming I can settle with RJ for something less than the full version of a max extension. Say 5/150 instead of 5/188 or whatever it is.
