What's new

Jazz are better than the Celtics

They have registered Brown as a SG as well. . .

Where the hell are you even getting this information?

Either way, in their starting lineup, Hayward is the player most closely resembling a 2-guard. If he is indeed registered there, it is accurate.

And actually, it's much harder to become a starter in the East listed at guard. Only 2 guards are voted in, and 3 "front-court" players are voted in (and you dont have to have a center, it could be 3 forwards). After that the coaches select 2 more guards, 3 more front-court players, and 2 wild cards. With the East being so loaded at PG, it's actually harder to make the All-Star team in the East at guard. So your theory about Hayward wanting an easier All-Star path is bunk.

Further, like most SG and SF's these days are, Hayward is probably considered a multi-positional player (meaning he could either be a guard or forward). So your point is further moot as it really doesnt matter at all because of this rule "If a multi-position player is to be selected, coaches are encouraged to vote for the player at the position that is "most advantageous for the All-Star team", regardless of where the player is listed on the All-Star ballot or the position he is listed in box scores"

How did Hayward contribute to IT and the Brooklyn pick being traded?
Hayward was responsible for Boston having to trade Bradley. Can't remember if they traded any other significant player to clear cap room. Well, they didn't re-sign Jerebko

I clearly lumped it all in together. Oh noes!

Neither would I as he contributed to IT, the BKN 2018 pick and their two best wing defenders being traded and losing wing depth.

The lost a lot as well.
Plus lots of $$$$$$

Gonna be strange watching him today.

I really need LeBron to smoke these guys tonight... I really want Stephen A hot takes in the morning about how Kyrie and Hayward can't bet Lebron... I need this... will make up for ruining my fourth of july.

Assuming Hayward is in fact being listed as a guard AND knew that would be the case during the summer.

It doesn't seem far-fetched to me that the all-star game at least played a role in his decision. We already know that making the all-star game last year was a huge priority for Hayward, as evidenced by his 2016 offseason meeting with Dennis Lindsey where he hounded him on wanting to make it.

Also, we know at the very least it was on his mind based on this quote when he talked to Zach Lowe after his decision:

"The All-Star thing is going to be hard no matter what division you're in, but certainly with the amount of stars that are in the Western Conference now, especially at the forward position, too. It's loaded, and you better have a really good first half of the season if you want to get in [to the All-Star Game]. "

Did you read anything I wrote?

Making it as a guard in the East is harder.

That doesnt matter because Hayward is probably considered a multi-positional player, so he would be auto-filled into whatever position was needed. If Hayward finishes in the top 5 votes he will be a starter, if he doesn't, he will still likely make the all-star team.

I 100% agree part of (possibly a very large part, along with market size) Hayward's decision to go East was for easier All-Star appearances. The positional listing is 100% irrelevant in the matter though.

Has LeBron been confirmed playing?

I assume he'd have to be on one leg to miss the opportunity of going full Daddy Lebron on Kyrie.

JR smith said he's playing and JR is extremely reliable... right?

I just think it would be funny if he missed the ASG. I don't really care either way tbh. I've truly moved on and am excited for the Jazz this season. There are a ton of things I want to see.

Gobert.
A smothering defense with pressure outside and inside.
DM
Rubio
And hopefully no more serious or long term injuries.

I am excited to see the way Gobert and DM play with both a chip and confidence, as well as an edge. I hope it plays out the way I think it will. C'mon Wednesday!
